Werth to start in Game 2

http://www.philly.com/dailynews/breaking/sports/20071004_Werth_to_start_in_Game_2.html

Looks like dajafi is getting his wish, albeit a game late.  And Burrell takes over his rightful place in the lineup against a LHP.

Looks like both the issues from yesterday have been addressed.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Thank God this change was made.  Both Chase and Pat produce better with this line up.  The only question I have is.... Wes Helms... again?  I realize that there is a lefty starting, but I'd rather take my chances with Dobbs.  He works counts well and he handles the bat well.  He was one of the only players that actually worked counts last night.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Hard to believe, but Dobbs only had 28 ABs against LHP all year. He was 6 for 28 with 2 walks. You'd think he would have gotten more ABs than that just by accident.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Not only did Dobbs have only 28 at-bats against lefties, but they were miserable ones - to the tune of a .481 OPS.  By comparison, he had an .808 OPS, 10 HR, 27 BB against righties.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Let's keep those numbers in mind for the off-season when somebody starts suggesting that Dobbs should get a full-time job or something. the guy had a nice year and all, but Chollie used him in a way that maximized his chances for success.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
If Nunez starts in Game 3 (with Moyer pitching) and Francis/Morales come back for Games 4 and 5 (unlikely), Dobbs might not start a game in the entire series.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Let's look to jump out quick tonight.  Mow em down in the top of the first and put up 5 or 6 of our own in the bottom.  I think the first inning will make a big statement today.  If we come out flat again like last night, I'm digging up my Flyers gear.  Normally I would say Eagles, but they suck.

Re: Werth to start in Game 2
Pat's place is between Utley and Howard more versus righties than lefties.  He'll get his ABs against a lefty regardless if the lefty is the starting pitcher.  We need him to get that AB against the lefty releiver to really have some sort of effect.
