Join Me In L.A. - NLCS Game Three, Phillies at Dodgers
Philadelphia Phillies @ Los Angeles Dodgers
Unfortunately this is the second time this season that I've used this Warren Zevon song as the title to a game thread, but I think the appropriateness, brevity and clarity far outweighs the implications of being a redundant jerk.
After two games in Philadelphia where virtually everything went right for the Phillies, the Fightin's take a 2-0 series lead to the Belly of the SoCal Beast, where the Phillies went 0-4 this season and suffered a couple crushing late-inning defeats.
Jamie Moyer goes for the Phillies tonight, where the deep dimensions of Dodgers Stadium should help him with his fly ball tendencies. Hiroki Kuroda, who absolutely owned the Phillies back in August, goes for the Dodgers. Hopefully Moyer does a little better tonight than he did last week, and the Phillies can put a strangehold on the Dodgers and this series with a 3-0 lead.
Play Ball, folks.

How awesome would it be to figure Kuroda out finally? Really awesome, really awesome.

Eagles pulled it out ... now let's get a W from the Phils

I hate FOX – that introduction was offensive and insulting to Philadephia.

Uh. I guess. They were just emulating the Philly accent. Doesn’t really offend me.

It’s irritating self promotion – does this mean that the cast of fringe will introduce the red sox in the world series?

The key for LA is to remember a game from August 30th not against the phillies?

Yeah, you’ll get mad at me for asking this question – but in 6 games in the playoffs, have the phils gotten an opposing team 1-2-3 in the first inning?

Chase with the walk. Okay, slowed him down a little at least.

Cool – Chad Billingsley will be cheap in the off season
by jemagee on Oct 12, 2008 8:28 PM EDT 0 recs
Oh my God. Can these announcers ever shut the hell up about these friggin dodgers?
Kuroda throws a pitch way high and suddenly it is the wakeup call that the Dodgers needed. Get out of here with that shit.

Serioulsy – why the HELL is retaliation a required part of baseball?
by jemagee on Oct 12, 2008 8:29 PM EDT 0 recs
agreed
maybe Billingsley feels the same way … that throwing 95 mph heater at someone on purpose is not exactly the best way to retaliate … winning IMO is.

I sense clubhouse problems with BIllingsley – he threw he catcher under the bus as well didn’t he?
Maybe the dodgers should stop making excuses

So, the announcers want us to lose, the umps want us to lose, and the people brought in to read our lineups want us to lose…These asshats may trick me into rooting for the dodgers.

No way, in fact, I had a strong feeling this would happen to Moyer. Really didn’t expect to beat Kuroda even if Moyer was sharp.
I just want 1 of 3 in LA.

I think 1 of 3 will get done, I believe 2 of 3 can get done but fat joe has to perform just as well as he did in Milwaukee…if the dodgers really want to bring lowe back on short rest, I think the advantage is strongly phils if you go by ‘last playoff appearance’ of starting pitcher.
This game isn’t entirely over yet either

Nice to see Howard breaking out there. If he starts to get in a groove tonight, that’s not as good as a win, but it’s something.

Yeah. Funny how they don’t mention that but they love to talk (defying all statistical evidence) about how small CBP is.
I am going to write a letter to FOX after this series I have decided.
