Classy Pat
For the record, how classy was Pat Gillick last night at the trophy presentation giving a shout-out to Ed Wade for assembling the core of this team? As much as we deride Wade, he really did assemble the "all-star" core of this team, which Gillick then augmented and fine-tuned.
+1 Pat

I thought that too. It was a classy move and he was absolutely right. Wade does deserve a lot of credit.

I forgot I wanted to mention that today. I mean, it wasn’t even an afterthought. He went RIGHT to Ed Wade. Almost like he was stumping for him. Good for Wade since I think he was always trashed way too much around here.
For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?

I think it also shows how close the whole baseball “fraternity” is.
Wade’s weaknesses were in making adjustments at the major league level. The only acquisition I can think of, offhand, that was a rousing success was the Abreu deal. Too many Ugueth Urbina and Andy Ashbys.
That being said, you have to give him (and Mike Arbuckle) credit for the current core. A belated thanks from all of us, Ed.
