LET'S GO RAYS

As a Phillies lifer toiling in South Florida, I couldn't be rooting any harder for the Rays at this point...if the Rays win the ALCS, I will officially be going to Game 1 of the World Series.  Even though I'm only 27, I don't think it was unreasonable for me to seriously doubt whether I'd ever live to see the day.

Interesting bit of trivia -- if the Phillies do in fact square up with the Rays, they will be charged with doing what no franchise has ever been able to do to this point: knock a baseball team from the Sunshine State out of the playoffs.  Both times the Marlins have been to the playoffs they've won it all (plus this year's Rays team).  Would be nice having the Phillies as the answer to a trivia question that involves something other than futility.

Amen to that…

more trivia

If the Rays win, the Phillies will have played an entire MLB division in the World Series. Apparently that’s never happened before.

My recollection from my last extended to Florida is that it’s a pretty long drive from Miami to Tampa, no?

yup… it’s been quite a few years since I made that drive… if i recall it was in the neighborhood of 4.5 hours or so… i think

That’s about right. The adrenaline of Hamels pitching game 1 of the World Series might get me there in 4 hours, but no less.

I lived in Tallahassee for awhile… Got used to driving all over the state… If you’re going ot Tampa, it’s actually a pretty nice city

That seems right … my girlfriends parents live in Clearwater, I always make a point to visit them during spring training. Thinking of maybe taking a trip down and catching a game down there. Whats really annoying is that Dunedin (right next to clearwater and st pete) is covered in Canadiens during spring training because of the Blue Jays, actually pretty nuts how many drive down, Ontario license plates are EVERYWHERE.

I'd like Boston to win one more game

Preferably in 20 innings or so. Then lose an extra-innings heartbreaker in game 7.

yes, a nice 20 inning game sounds really good to me… nothing like throwing the old monkey wrench into the rotation machine 5 days before the WS starts
