World Series Game 2: Pre-game chat
Well, we are sitting in a lot better position before game 2 than we were before game 1. But that goes without saying. Offense only showed up halfway, but it happens. Now we need Myers to do what Myers of the second half did: use his breaking stuff more. I am feeling pretty good about this game as well and hopefully we'll see Dobbs and Stairs tonight.

let’s start our lineup roulette… the Fuquer can go alot of ways here… Shields doesn’t really have much of a split, but he’s a little more wild against Lefties… My guess
Rollins SS
Werth RF
Utley 2B
Howard 1B
Burrell LF
Victorino CF
Stairs DH
Dobbs 3B
Ruiz C

That is a pretty nice lineup. Even with Jenkins as DH.

thought about it… thought process was Stairs is more familiar with the Rays than Jenkins (i don’t have numbers off hand, but i really don’t care)… Jenkins really doesn’t stir my Kool-Aid, and for some reason, I just think familarity will help… and even if Jenkins has better numbers, I’m sure the sample size is limited.

Jenkins has never faced Shields before, and has no more than 6 AB against any Rays pitcher.
Stairs is 3 for 20 lifetime against Shields, with 1 HR. Not much luck against the bullpen: 0 for 2 vs. Howell, 1 for 8 vs. Wheeler with a HR, 0 for 4 vs. Balfour with 4 K’s, 0 for 3 vs. Miller, 2 for 5 vs. Bradford.

Additionally, I don’t have much need for my soul… so if God, the Devil, Xanu, Buddah, Cali, or any other deity out there needs one, I’m willing to exchange it for a Phils WS win…

My lineup would be:
Rollins SS
Victorino CF
Utley 2B
Burrell LF
Howard 1B
Werth RF
Dobbs 3B
Stairs DH
Ruiz C
Alternating righties and lefties is a fairly big deal against this team in general, I think.
But the real key to the game will be whether Myers can control 1) himself and 2) his curve. If it’s yes on both, I think we’re in great shape.

If Manuel didn’t split Howard and Utley against Kazmir, I don’t see him doing it against any of the righties. Of course, logic shows that it makes MORE sense to split them against the righties than the lefty starter, but Manuel barely gets past the first step in the logical process.

You’re almost certainly right. I was just putting out how I’d set the lineup for tonight.
That said, splitting the lefties is probably the thing I’m least sure about. Would dropping Howard a spot ease the pressure, or add more? I have no idea.

Would more pressure really matter right about now?

According to ESPN, Dobbs will DH and Feliz will remain at third. The rest of the batting order and lineup will be the same as last night.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. They are basically trying to concede an out with Feliz in there…especially vs. the righty. Why not stack the lineup with lefties early and then if you need a right handed bat or some defense later you bring Feliz in?
