Jamie Moyer: My Hero.
So if last night wasn't enough to convince you that Jamie Moyer should be enshrined in the Philadelphia-World-Series-Hall-of-Fame, there's more. According to Ken Rosenthal (who talked to Ms. Jamie Moyer), throughout the game, J-Mo had a ridiculous virus that was causing some major sweating and diarrhea.
"It was so bad I had to change the sheets twice," Karen said. "He ruined two pillows. Our comforter is at the cleaners right now.
"I kept saying, 'Should we be calling the team? Should you maybe not be pitching? I don't know. It's only the game of your life."
Yes it was, and Karen said there was "never a doubt" that her husband would take the mound.
Anyway, here's to hoping Moyer is better in time for the parade.

"It was so bad I had to change the sheets twice,"
I hope Digger Phelps’ daughter was referring to the sweating and not the diarrhea.

How is this not bigger news? Like Schilling bloody sock big? It seems to me that pitching would be much harder if you were feeling very ill than it would if you have a stitched up ankle. At least with the ankle they can numb it up so you don’t even feel it.

Because the Red Sox
are America’s team. They are dirty and they are gritty — they’re gamers. Their culture and history is infinitely more important than other teams.

also, this has to do with poop
I think if schilling was pooping himself during those games, it may have not been a big story, either. America doesn’t like talking poop

Big turn around
How things change. During the Dodgers series, many who post to this blog felt that Moyer shouldn’t be given the ball again in the post season, and basically saw his two disappointing post season performances as proof that he was completely washed up. Y’all know who you are. Charlie knew better, and Moyer — even though he didn’t win the game (no fault of his) — pitched a brilliant, gutty (literally apparently) game that turned the tide of the series in our favor. Let’s give the man some props. Yes Hamels is the ace, but Moyer’s a pretty remarkable guy too

Yes, because he pitched piss poor in two games – on basically normal rest, it’s amazing what some extra rest will do for an old fart isn’t it? Sick or not.
Maybe being sick made him focus more on the pitching and if he was well he wouldn’t have pitched as well.
Who the frack knows.

Seriously… I laughed when we made our big pitching move by getting Jamie Moyer… I honestly couldn’t understand what we were doing… next to Brad Lidge, getting Moyer is probably the best move Gillick made for us… I thank and applaud Jamie for all he has done for us

Moyer’s arm and Howard’s bat (among others) propelled the Phils down the stretch into the playoffs, and then they disappeared for two series, only to re-emerge as heroes in a crucial game on baseball’s biggest stage. A great story.
The blown 1B call was criminal because it robbed Moyer of the glory he deserved for making that amazing diving play.
Anyway, Moyer is permanently enshrined in my personal Phillies HOF, for what it’s worth. What an inspiration.
