Game 5A Starting Time - When Will We Know?

Any word when MLB and King Bud the Used Car Salesman will be making the decision about whether there is a game tonight?

Given the need to inform Fox, the players, the stadium personnel, and the fans (yes, we matter still, right?), I'd assume that the decision would have to be made by 3 or 4pm at the latest.  But, that's just a guess.

If anyone knows, please post.  And, if anyone hears of a decision, please post here too.

million dollar question

and not only for Phils fans, us Rays fans are awful curious too, as it MAY effect what happens the rest of the week.

I agree with you, I fully expect a decision by mid-afternoon, and that decision absolutely should be that there is no game tonight and they try this again on Wed night. I’m in Philly, I’m freezing, it’s raining, and it’s crazy windy. This is about as bad as weather can get, I wouldn’t want to go to a football game in this stuff – let alone baseball.

Make a decision early, make that decision so that you’re sure of what will happen (ie, not that you’re guessing you might be able to play a few lousy innings tonight) and also clear up the schedule for the potential rest of the series.

My suggestion: No game tonight. Play at 8pm Wed in Philly, no travel day, Thursday for game 6 (least disruptive as a game is already scheduled), take Friday off for Halloween, and potential game 7 on Saturday night (for TV ratings.)

If Selig pushes any decision into the evening, he really just hates the fans and I hope he gets thrown into the upper deck at the Linc wearing a Rays hat, Cowboys jersey, and Penguins pants.

I agree – I think there’s no way this game is played. It may be good weather by game time, but I doubt they’d know that with 100% confidence at any point before that moment, so they’re not going to take any chances. The game will be played tomorrow night.

might be playable by 8...

but there is no chance it was be “good weather” ;-)

Heck with your cute ballpark – build a dome with some catwalks!!!

In my book, “good weather” means no rain, no wind gusts, and temperatures that allow players to grip the baseball and not have their hands fall off each time they make contact with the bat. At least 2 of these conditions will not be met by game time, and the rain is questionable.

I say call the thing off early and try again Wednesday. Or Thanksgiving.
