Get Lowe: NLCS Game One Thread: Dodgers at Phillies
Los Angeles Dodgers @ Philadelphia Phillies
It's been a long time for both teams -- 15 for Philly, 20 for L.A. -- but the 2008 NLCS begins tonight in South Philadelphia at Citizen's Bank Park. Lefty ace Cole Hamels faces off against postseasonmainstay Derek Lowe.
Forecasts, predictions, projections, hunches, all out the window.
Sinkerballer Lowe generally does a good job keeping balls in the park. Hamels, with his great control, allowed baserunners at the best rate in the league this season. It's a great matchup of two terrific pitchers with very different styles.
Get Cole a lead early.
GO PHILLIES!!!

Looks like Utley and Howard are back to back. Bad move.

This is really mind boggling. When Utley and Howard are up in a key spot and they bring in Beimel or Kuo to face them both I might blow a gasket.

It’s not that the lefties facing both Howard and Utley, that would happen either way. It’s Werth or Burrell not having a crack at them in between.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver for an NLCS appearance, fair trade? Barely.

Ok, after the past 48 hours dealing with my narcicistic insane mother i need this win more than I’ve ever need a sporting win – someone please tell Cole to stop pitching like crap.
On the drive home i had to listen to the ESPN radio feed and let me tell you how much Steve Philips SUCKS

Hi fellow Philly supporters...
I am a Rockies fan who follows the Phillies as my second team. I hope it is ok that I join in the game thread.

Thanks!
For the record, this IS your year, I firmly believe it! And I have always had a lot of respect for the Phillies and that includes last year. I was proud we were even able to compete with you guys honestly.

I hate facing sinkerballers. When they are on, there is nothing worse than watching everyone on your team beat the ball into the ground on the 3rd pitch.

The music doesn’t sound like the west wing theme song (which i find very recognizable and iconic) but it is kind of weird, what the hell was that music?

from deadspin
8:37 — Harry Kalas brings the world a starting lineup, which gives me a new idea for the playoffs. FOX should simulcast the games on FX or FSN, but with the home team’s announcer doing the call instead of Joe Buck. It’s all about choice.
i wish

That’s a brilliant (and unoriginal) idea
MLB would never go for it.
Some ESPN head, I think Neyer, suggested a channel that just broadcast the game with crowd noise – I’m up with that
