If Peavy is truly interested in 1. pitching for a winner; 2. staying in the National League, he'd waive his no-trade clause to come to Philadelphia.

Yeah i heard something this morning about a ‘deadline’ – which i found asinine – the padres are desperate to shed salary to sell the team (some odd things going on in san diego folks) – and everyone knows it – so putting a deadline on it is ridiculous – and of course by being this desperate and saying it publicly you totally screw your negotiating position…trying to regain it this way ain’t impressive to me.
I gotta wonder though – the cubs are in monetary flux as well aren’t they? They are looking for new ownership and didn’t their ownership file for bankruptcy this week?
