Listening to Baseball

I'm sitting here at home, listening to Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen calling the Pirates-Phillies game from Florida. First at-bat I heard: Chase Utley double. Second at-bat: monstrous Ryan Howard three-run homer. Currently Joe Savery is on the mound, in a bit of a jam after allowing back-to-back singles, recording a strikeout, and then issuing a walk.

But the Phils are leading 5-1, baseball has returned, and life is very, very good.

Re: Listening to Baseball
A two-run single and a three-run homer later, the Pirates now lead 6-5.

Life is still good. The game doesn't count.

Re: Listening to Baseball
Spring training games are meaningless, you are correct.  But there is something to be said for being able to check a box score.  It is like a rite of passage into spring.
