Game Two: Redding vs. Hamels

Washington @ Philadelphia

King Cole takes the hill against one-time Houston hurler Tim Redding. Geoff Jenkins likely will get his first Phillies start tonight; maybe he'll even hit ahead of Pedro Feliz, who more than met expectations in the six-hole with two strikeouts and a GIDP in his 0-4 debut Monday.

oh boy...

A hit and two walks, and suddenly the bases are loaded for LoDuca. I'll probably barf if that a-hole beats them.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:14 PM EDT   0 recs

Far out

LoDoucha grounds out. Smarten up, Cole.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:15 PM EDT   0 recs

whew...

first inning jitters?

hope so...

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:16 PM EDT   0 recs

Redding

This mutt Redding seems like the type to shut the Phils down, just a bad feeling.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:18 PM EDT   0 recs

Going to A.C. tomorrow...

See if this is the start of a streak or something.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:24 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

it's april. anyone could shut the phils down. If Redding does well, it will further illustrate that point.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:19 PM EDT   0 recs

yum!

Redding with the 3.19 career ERA vs. the Phillies, in 36 2/3 innings.

Chase works the count full...

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

ugh

Phils got the plop-ups tonight

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:19 PM EDT   0 recs

Zimmy

That was neat, Zimmerman just about took the railing in his nuts going for that foul pop.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

"the other way"

Howard seems to be going the other way a lot more this year, which he didn't do as much last year.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

there's a K...hopefully the first of more than 200!

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:27 PM EDT   0 recs

Sutton and Carpenter

On MASN they're "surprised" Hamels is throwing his change-up. Do they do any research at all?

Belliard Ks on a high fastball.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:27 PM EDT   0 recs

P hit

Redding grounds one up the middle for a hit. Lover of mother, these pitchers...

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:29 PM EDT   0 recs

ugh

It's scoreless as I tune in for the bottom of the 2nd, but it feels like they're losing somehow.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 7:34 PM EDT   0 recs

If you are keeping score based on hits or how bad a team has looked thus far, then the phils are indeed losing.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's Pat

Burrell's first pitch pop-up to right was especially out of character and concerning.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

cole's settling in. being more economical. 7 innings would be nice.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:44 PM EDT   0 recs

shutup, there's a ballgame on...

I hated Tom McCarthy when he was with the broadcast team a few years ago. Then I heard him doing Mets games and came around on him a little. Now he's the "roving reporter," and it's not so much that I hate him as that I despise the whole concept of what he's doing with every fiber of my being.

I mean, God bless Sixers point guard Andre Miller. BUT THERE'S A FRIGGING GAME GOING ON.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 7:48 PM EDT   0 recs

For crying out loud...

That's just some bad luck.

1-5-3

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:48 PM EDT   0 recs

It bears repeating

Pedro Feliz has the Phillies only hit through three innings against Tim Redding.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:49 PM EDT   0 recs

nice

Good quick inning for Hamels in the 4th.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 7:54 PM EDT   0 recs

jeez. they have hit some lasers off of cole tonight. luckily they have been right at people.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 7:54 PM EDT   0 recs

burrell, first pitch swinging again. ugh. this is terrible.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 8:02 PM EDT   0 recs

holy holy

Burrell with another first-pitch pop to the outfield

Blastings Thrilledge fouling off like a zillion pitches

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:09 PM EDT   0 recs

post-game

If I'm Cole Hamels, I'm kicking the entire starting lineup in their taints after the game tonight.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:11 PM EDT   0 recs

It's time

To flip the switch.

by Steve-O- on Apr 2, 2008 8:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

OH MY GOD

IT'S

TIM

REDDING

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:16 PM EDT   0 recs

well, that should hold up. 1-0. I have homework to do.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 8:20 PM EDT   0 recs

wow.

couldn't have been more right.

should have started my work, damnit.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 9:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

not to make excuses, but...

Seriously, why do we start at home every year? It's freakin' cold. Unpleasant for fans, unpleasant for players... and we apparently stink on ice, by unwritten law, until sometime between April 15 and May 15 anyway.

Zimmerman with a wind-aided homer.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 8:20 PM EDT   0 recs

Have to admit...

Feliz looks awfully nice at third base so far...

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:25 PM EDT   0 recs

fudge

I am about to start bazooka barfing

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:31 PM EDT   0 recs

amazing

Every year, I get super-psyched for the start of the season. And every year, within 72 hours at most after that first pitch, it feels like I've been kicked in the gut.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 8:32 PM EDT   0 recs

Indeed

You have lots of company.

by Steve-O- on Apr 2, 2008 8:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Idea

Manuel should rip Shane Victorino's heart right out of his ribcage after the game and eat it in front of the entire team. As motivation!

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:36 PM EDT   0 recs

Burrell

Make papa proud!

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:42 PM EDT   0 recs

sake

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:43 PM EDT   0 recs

that

was ass. Two laser shots around a walk: lineout, double play.

Maybe it's not our night... but damn, it stings to lose any game where we get pitching as good as what Cole has done.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 8:44 PM EDT   0 recs

Cole done

Can't ask for any more than eight innings, one run.

RUSH HIM TO THE CHIROPRACTOR. STAT!

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 8:53 PM EDT   0 recs

Odds

Five bucks says Feliz GIDP here.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 8:56 PM EDT   0 recs

I'll take that...

I think he strikes out.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 8:58 PM EDT   0 recs

Have some faith wouldja

by Steve-O- on Apr 2, 2008 8:58 PM EDT   0 recs

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 9:00 PM EDT   0 recs

Ha, he couldn't hit it hard enough for a GIDP!

by jonk on Apr 2, 2008 9:00 PM EDT   0 recs

Turned the lineup over, right Wheels?

by jonk on Apr 2, 2008 9:02 PM EDT   0 recs

ewww...

Even when they mess up, it works out.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:02 PM EDT   0 recs

man

How often do you get 1-6-3 and 5-6-4 groundouts in the same game?

Inept and unlucky is a bad combination.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 9:02 PM EDT   0 recs

Gordo? Huh?

Who pitches now? Is it safe to expect a seven run deficit for bottom 9th?

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:04 PM EDT   0 recs

1 hit and just 2 Ks. Jeez.

by jonk on Apr 2, 2008 9:05 PM EDT   0 recs

Too many

Too many strikeouts kill your lineup.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:05 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Which Durbin?

Chan or J.D.?

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:08 PM EDT   0 recs

J.D. got cut, didn't he?

by phatj on Apr 2, 2008 9:09 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Feliz

Okay, much as it looks like he'll be the whipping boy 'round these parts, the dude can field.

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 9:08 PM EDT   0 recs

Wheels called that pitch a hanger? I thought that was just a nasty little curve, down and away.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 9:10 PM EDT   0 recs

Extra Innings

Anyone watching on Extra Innings about to destroy their television set when that "Red Sox... in Boise?!!?" Extra Innings promo comes on?

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:12 PM EDT   0 recs

Romero

Turns into a pumpkin here, my prediction.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:14 PM EDT   0 recs

Glad to be wrong, lolz.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:15 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

has there been a 1-0 game in CBP yet?

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 9:15 PM EDT   0 recs

A few I believe.

by jonk on Apr 2, 2008 9:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

about to be one more too.

Just get on base, Chase

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:21 PM EDT   0 recs

maddening

This is some of the most inconsistent ball-strike umpiring in the history of the sport.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:22 PM EDT   0 recs

bad bad bad bad bad terrible terrible terrible terrible.

It's gonna be a long April fellas. I can smell it.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 2, 2008 9:23 PM EDT   0 recs

awful

Just... just awful.

Hamels should have them all shot.

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:23 PM EDT   0 recs

think of it this way

Midweek afternoon game to end an April losing streak...

Geez. Should I bet my house on Washington tomorrow?

by dajafi on Apr 2, 2008 9:24 PM EDT   0 recs

2005, 2006, 2007...

Why should it be any different this year?

by WholeCamels on Apr 2, 2008 9:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Here we go again...

Long, long season
