Rollins to the DL
Accorinding to the Daily News:
"Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has been put on the disabled list for the first time in his eight-year career.
He sprained his left ankle on April 8 at Shea Stadium running the bases in the top of the eighth inning and has not started a game since, but has pinch-hit four times."
Also:
"Outfielder Chris Snelling was also placed on the disabled list with left knee inflammation. Snelling is backdated to April 17.
The Phillies recalled infielder Brad Harman from Double A Reading and outfielder T.J. Bohn was recalled from Triple A Lehigh Valley."
Could the Phillies mishandled this situation any worse? Putting Rollins out there for pinch hitting duties could only make the ankle worse. They had a short bench because of it and now he has to miss another 2 weeks which will make it pretty much a month total. It may have been that anyway, but who knows and we'd have a little bit deeper bench. No comment on the callups...

Actually, here are their minor’s numbers thus far:
Harman: .222 .311 .333 .644
Bohn: .190 .261 .214 .475
Yikes!
For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?

Utterly ridiculous.
I am more pissed because I know I am going to have to see Bruntlett playing on a regular basis. That is a scary thought.
As I said before: the injury must be much more serious than they have let on. It seems like every day he was expected to return to the lineup it got pushed back another day.

What absolutely fries me about this is that you know nobody will be held accountable. Nobody loses their job, nobody gets demoted or reassigned, just shrugs and “hey, lookit the Phanatic!”
The Phillies are baseball’s answer to the federal government.

I would argue that even the government has a better accountability structure than the Phillies. That is saying a lot.
But yeah. If he was hurt enough to be out of the starting lineup for 10 games but healthy enough to pinch hit, then my question is did he do more damage in one of his PH appearances? If not, then why was he not on the DL all along?

ha
The next time some mouthbreathing neanderthal says to you “Thats why you’re a fan and they are working in baseball”, calmly recount this entire ordeal to him, slowly, and tell him to shut his yap.
Anyone with two working eyes, or maybe only one, could see Rollins was not even shifting his weight when he pinch hit, and he was actually hobbling down the line while running. But that doesn’t even bother me. What bothers me is, the Phillies kept saying how close he was to coming back, and that he was doing fine. And then 2 days later they DL him. Its as if they treat all of their fans like small children, who should simply believe what they are told.
Add in the recent comments by Arbuckle, and you really have to question why it is you continue to support such an incompetent team. You know, the Royals and Rays are on the up and up…just saying….

That’s it. They insult our intelligence day after day after goddamn day.
That’s we we’re even bigger suckers than they are.

Wow
When they finally did an MRI long after the original injury, you knew this was coming. After all, when do the Phillies ever do MRIs?
