Game 3: Bergmann vs. Moyer
Washington @ Philadelphia
Midweek day game in April. Think moral victory. Real victory would be great too.

turned it on...
Two on, no out, Zimmerman and Johnson due. Super!

...and we're behind
Zimmerman hits a bullet, Feliz fields it clean, throws to Utley... who throws it away. Run in, second and third.
Unreal.

4-0, Washington still batting
And I've turned the game off.

yuck
Proves me right for drafting a 45 year old pitcher in my fantasy league.

7 errors in 3 games
You gotta be kidding me. Maybe ST should have a litttle more 'sense of urgency' as we used to say in the Army. And+ I'm still waiting for our boys to 'flip the switch'.

It really isn't fun to be a Phillies fan in the beginning of April.

second and third no ous, some insurance was in order. But I am enjoying the game now. How many gave up? Oh well they can read about it.

class all day, just looked at the score, glad I wasn't around to watch the first 8 innings.
Gordon is in, 135.00 ERA and all...

I woke up in the 2nd to being down 5-0..errr. Anyway the comeback in the 6th was classic Phillies baseball, nail biting but exciting. Go Phils!!!

I really love the guy though, great attitude and great history BUT that was then and we are talking now. I wonder how bad the shoulder really is?

Oh, how many ways can they drive me nuts before they finally lose?

Carlos DP...what's that make like 8 LOB in the last 3 innings. Oh my God

painful
Left home two hours ago, had a meeting at the office, figured I'd turn it on to see we'd lost 7-2 or something.
Given that we're still very likely to lose and now the bullpen is smoked for Cincinnati, this probably will turn out to be worse, but I guess it's nice that they came back.

First of many times we'll be saying "sure wish he'd have kept Burrell in."

had 'em all the way, harry...
;)
Use the whole pitching staff, damn well better win. But this was sweet.
I swear I could hear Colome's heart pounding from lower Manhattan...

Oh yeah let's hope this gets 'em on track. Great comeback.

can someone explain rollins's move to third?
I was just watching on GameDay. How in the world did Jimmy get to third on a sacrifice?

He just kept running through 2nd base. Exciting to say the least. I haven't see that since little league.
by Steve-O- on Apr 3, 2008 5:09 PM EDT 0 recs
exciting, maybe, but
I'm not sure it was a great idea. I didn't see it, but it sounds like a huge risk to me, if the ball wasn't clearly thrown away or something. I don't know exactly what sabermetrics says about that old-school rule regarding making the first out at third base, but in a tie game in extra innings, with Utley and Howard due up.....

It was acutally a high percentage move. Zimmerman fielded the ball and was out of the play. Jimmy had to beat Guzman over to the bag and was practically neck and neck with him. Guzman would still have to turn around and make the tag. The pitcher actually got there first and caught the ball, but there is no way that they were going to catch and tag Jimmy before he got there.
I am as critical as the next guy on plays like that, but it looks like Jimmy knew he could make it as soon as he got to second.

Are we not doing signatures?
I just noticed that I appear to be the only person on this thread with a signature. It was offered when I signed up under this new regime, but if there's been a tacit agreement that we'll forego them to save space or something, then, if that is the way the wind is blowing, let it not be said that I do not also blow.
