I see Eaton’s reverting to form.

yes. He’s just not a very good pitcher. He has a lot of money though.

Wolf comes thisclose to taking Eaton out of the yard, but Werth catches it at the wall. Still 2-0.

radar gun?

did anybody see the radar gun readings in burrells ab? first pitch curve it said 56 mph then fastball clocked at 101 mph..

Btw, minor victory with Feliz not GIDP!!!

Yeah, except that his swing basically went from ground to head. But that does beat GIDP, which I thought was coming. Baby steps.

Odds that Eaton makes it out of this inning?

by FuquaManuel on May 1, 2008 7:47 PM EDT reply actions

The team has resigned itself to having to just outscore the opponent when Eaton plays.

Every out I’ve seen Eaton record has been a smash right at somebody. I’ve definitely got that 2007 vibe with him… which I didn’t have for his first three starts. Maybe he’s hurt again?

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 7:52 PM EDT reply actions

This is hysterical (and scary)—Howard ends the inning with a leaping grab of what looked like a run-scoring hit.

GET HIM OUT NOW.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

Wolf making some fantastic pitches in the 3rd after allowing a leadoff double to Victorino. Now two outs. He’s struck out Werth and Utley. Throwing a lot of pitches, though.

Howard with an RBI double that just misses going out. 2-1.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:06 PM EDT reply actions

Now Burrell with an RBI double. Both first-pitch knocks. Maybe they’re seeing something, or maybe Wolf is getting tired. Game’s tied.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

Eaton nibbling, nibbling, nibbling. Against Josh Bard.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:19 PM EDT reply actions

Another smashed out that Victorino runs down in deeeeep CF.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

Werth up with 2 on and 2 out. Big AB here.

I am not sure if Werth is seeing the ball out of Wolf’s hand so well. Swinging at a lot of balls.

Almost a double, ends up being an out. Werth not goog on those inside pitches.

Werth swings at three crap pitches, and strikes out after being ahead 3-1. He needs a couple days off.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

Eaton continuing to get much better defense than he deserves as Bruntlett robs Giles.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

Eaton strikes out Gonzalez to end the 5th, probably meaning that he’ll be lifted with two on, none out next inning.

Could be worse, though… the Sixers are losing 30-12. Ouch.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:41 PM EDT reply actions

Sixers

It was fun while it lasted.

I would really hate to see the Flyers be the Philadelphia team to break the dry spell.

Thats like walking across a desert with no water, only to have your thirst quenched with maple syrup.

by FuquaManuel on May 1, 2008 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions

I actually kind of like the idea that the Flyers-the team I’m least devoted to-might break it. Somehow that could loosen things up for the Phils and Iggles.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Well then, why stop at the flyers?

The Soul are 9-0!

If they won it all that would really stick it to the Phils and Birds. Man, that would be so embarrassing.

by FuquaManuel on May 1, 2008 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Okay, it has to be a team I could name a couple players on at least.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Wolf strikes out the side in the 5th.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:50 PM EDT reply actions

1-2-3 for Eaton in the 6th. He’s looked much better the last two innings.

by dajafi on May 1, 2008 8:56 PM EDT reply actions

Uh oh, Manuel overmanaging here. Pulls Madson after he issues a 2 out walk. Not good, but bringing in Romero who could be even more wild is risky. Just to face a lefty. This could really hurt if we go extra innings.

Romero

Glad to see he got Giles. It always scares me when Romero comes in with runners on – give him three empty bases at the start of an inning and he almost always gets through the inning, but otherwise it can be an adventure.
