Phils looking horrible early on. Kendrick can’t make anyone miss (and he’s issued some walks already), and the defense has already committed two miscues (Ruiz passed ball, Rollins error). Reminiscent of that awful KK start against the Mets.

Oh, good. Tom McCarthy interviewing John Feinstein during the Phils AB.

I effin hate this so, so much. THERE IS A BASEBALL GAME ON—THAT’S WHY WE’RE WATCHING!

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 7:40 PM EDT reply actions

I hate to sound like a ‘negative Nellie’ but this game has ass whipping written all over it.

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

3-0 count on Feliz… the world leans forward with anticipation… and he flies out with the green light on 3-0.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 7:43 PM EDT reply actions

Phils have had a couple near-miss HRs tonight. This guy seems to try and get ahead with hittable pitches to start at-bats; Victorino nearly took one out of the yard just now, but it was caught against the fence. 3-0 after 3.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 7:57 PM EDT reply actions

Standup double for Howard in the fourth—verrry nearly hit it out, to the deepest part of the park.

Phils have second and third, no outs for Burrell.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

Burrell strikes out. Feels like they get nothing here…

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:08 PM EDT reply actions

Nope, two-run single for Werth. 3-2.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:10 PM EDT reply actions

Was cooking dinner and missed Werths single. Isn’t that so much better than a sac fly?

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 8:16 PM EDT reply actions

It's a nice surprise

To get home and hear the phillies home town broadcast on extra innings, it happens slightly more frequently this year…not the biggest fan of the phils broadcast team but at least it’s phillies homers instead of other teams homers…plus i get to see all those ads you guys rave about

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 8:23 PM EDT reply actions

That might have been a good spot for Shane to try and steal third there… now Howard needs to bring him in.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:29 PM EDT reply actions

Wow, did it. RBI single through the shift. Tie game.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I can read tomorrows headlines now…....

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

Dajafi, am I crazy to like seeing Happy Pete up in this situation?

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

Um… “crazy” is such an extreme word.

So, uh, yeah…

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

8 for his last 24 and he’s one of the phillies ‘hottest hitters’?

That’s kind of sad

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

Hey, KK strikes out Buy-a-Vowel…

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

Single, and then falls behind the 8 hitter… c’mon, Kendrick.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:42 PM EDT reply actions

Walks him. Strange decision from Wife-Beating Drunk Braves manager Cox to leave Reyes in there to hit.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Thank you for missing the bunt Jo Jo

Is his life calling?

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 8:43 PM EDT reply actions

A little fire from KK as he finishes the inning with no damage.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

Was KK’s fire goose gossage approved?

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

Romero in trouble in the 7th—two outs, then a single to Larry Jr. (whom, let it be known, I detest) and a long AB vs. McCann ending in a walk. Now Norton.

J.C. makes me nervous with his control issues…

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

...never a doubt—comes back with three straight beaut pitches to get Norton.

And, yes, shows a little fire coming off the mound.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

This fire, it seems catching…they should get an ointment or an unguent

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:05 PM EDT reply actions

Good word.

Meanwhile, I thought this Reyes guy was cooked, but he’s gotten Utley and Howard with relative ease in the 7th.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Burrell gets a double, causing both reyes and burrell to be pulled from the game.

sigh

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:11 PM EDT reply actions

Oh yeah, unguent

i admit i had to look it up via google, i knew there was an odd sounding word starting with u but couldn’t recall it.

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Nah, I knew it was legit.

Werth with the bloopy RBI single. 5-3.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Two-out double for Burrell. That’s it for Reyes.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:11 PM EDT reply actions

and burrell

sigh

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Bruntlett was running for Burrell there. I guess with Taguchi already expended, Bruntlett will be the defensive replacement.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

Well hopefully, like most of the substitutions so far this year that i was kind of tracking before bannination the impact will be neutral.

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Johnson with a leadoff single in the 8th. Hmm.

C’mon, Flash…

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:21 PM EDT reply actions

He actually got francoeur but we missed it because of the interview with the singing religious guy

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh, you’re right. I was getting a beer too.

It seems like nothing happens-or maybe just nothing good happens-when they’re interviewing someone.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Gordon calms your nerves…it’s lidge time

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Lidge

Anyone else find themselves hoping that he’ll come in to some game where we’re way up or way down and just give up a run or two, to get it out of the way?

He’s facing 1-2-3 in the 9th.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:33 PM EDT reply actions

He is so on right now it’s sick. What a good fleecing of Ed Wade. (snicker).

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 9:35 PM EDT reply actions

Oh come on…gloating about fleecing ed wade is like bragging about having relations with a lady of the evening after you pay her.

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:36 PM EDT reply actions

Holy jeez escobar, that was a howard like swing….sad

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

LOL

jem returns with a vengeance.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

We are due for a Lidge meltdown…

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:38 PM EDT reply actions

Hell, he’s 3-0 on Kotsay with Larry Jr coming… walk.

Gulp.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:38 PM EDT reply actions

3-4 lifetime vs. Lidge. So, he’s due to be out, right?

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

first walk since April 20th for Lidge.

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 9:40 PM EDT reply actions

Anyone else just feel their sphincter clench?

Larry Jr. out on a DEEP fly to left.

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:40 PM EDT reply actions

Pretty much everything from chest to tuckis, yeah.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions

spoken (typed?) like a true mensch

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Well well well see if Smoltz bitches about OFJOABP now.

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 9:41 PM EDT reply actions

Happy Zone…ding?

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:42 PM EDT reply actions

Shane would have caught that…what the HECK was werth doing that shallow?

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:43 PM EDT reply actions

Werth-less?

Mother of God… uggghhh… dying here

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:43 PM EDT reply actions

stomach pains starting…Damn.

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, pretty sure Shane gets that one.

Goddammit.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

sweet sassy molassy, Lidge nowhere close to the plate…

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:45 PM EDT reply actions

Your favorite Brave up now.

This is not good.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Another walk…alright lidge…you’ve gotten it ALL out of you…stop letting werth shake you…and wheeler stop making excuses for jayson werth…it was just god awful…but mr swings a lot is up

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:46 PM EDT reply actions

Victorino calls of werth…who almost runs into him anyone, but gets frenchy…thus again proving how silly the ‘save’ stat is

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:47 PM EDT reply actions

VIC takes charge out there.

Phils win.

But I feel molested.

by WholeCamels on May 13, 2008 9:47 PM EDT reply actions

Great win consider how KK started.

by Steve-O- on May 13, 2008 9:48 PM EDT reply actions

For those with Extra Innings…billy wagner will pitch with a 3 run lead in the top of the 9th, marlins down 4-1 top of the 7th…two on two out…uggla makes it 4-2

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:49 PM EDT reply actions

Werth wins “Player of the Game” despite late misjudgment. The 4 RBI help.

All is forgotten and forgiven.

I don’t have Extra Innings, but I do live in Brooklyn so maybe I’ll catch the conclusion of that one.

by dajafi on May 13, 2008 9:49 PM EDT reply actions

Extra Innings is vital for a two fan household living in neither of the markets :)

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 9:50 PM EDT reply actions

Hey Dajafi

I was going to email you directly but couldn’t figure out how here…if you can can you send me an email i want to inquire directly to you about something regarding the other areas of TGP.

by jemagee on May 13, 2008 10:02 PM EDT reply actions

I like that Lidge gave up a run. Nothing worse than having a 0.00 ERA. Best to give up runs with a 2+ run lead or in a tied or losing game.

For Who? My teammates.

For What? To Win.

How Much? Where do I sign?

by jonk on May 14, 2008 12:40 AM EDT reply actions

As I wrote above, I would have liked to see it happen in a game where we were way ahead or way behind.

But yeah, I’m a bit relieved he’s off the goose eggs, especially since it didn’t cost us the win.

by dajafi on May 14, 2008 1:05 AM EDT up reply actions

All I know is, if that’s the only run he gives up all year, Jayson Werth owes him a beer.

by taco pal on May 14, 2008 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions

Brett Myers is just a hot mess out there. I don’t know what the hell his problem is anymore.

by FuquaManuel on May 14, 2008 7:11 PM EDT reply actions

You know what

Milwaukee needs a closer, so do a couple other teams, trade him packaged as a closer, call up someone in double a and see what they can do, he’s just not cutting it any more but probably still has value as a closer to someone

by jemagee on May 14, 2008 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Myers has never been very good at keeping the ball in the park, but this is just ridiculous. 15 homers in 51 innings pitched.

by FuquaManuel on May 14, 2008 7:30 PM EDT reply actions

Okie dokie, now is the time to take Myers out of there and think long and hard about what to do with him going forward.

by FuquaManuel on May 14, 2008 7:45 PM EDT reply actions

Tom Glavine singled to the catcher.

I love to read things like that

by jemagee on May 14, 2008 8:01 PM EDT reply actions

TAKE HIM OUT. TAKE HIM OUT. TAKE HIM OUT.

by FuquaManuel on May 14, 2008 8:18 PM EDT reply actions

Put condrey in charlie, you hate condrey, pitch him for 3 innings, you won’t let him pitch again for another week or so

by jemagee on May 14, 2008 8:18 PM EDT reply actions

Boo to Myers. Now I have a reason to dislike him other than the fact that he is a wife beater, a pig, an idiot, and a general jerk—he’s been awful on the field.

by FuquaManuel on May 14, 2008 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

So, is this the ‘madsons been demoted’ revelation or will we see a different pitcher every inning?
