May 27: Jiminez vs. Kendrick
Colorado Rockies at Philadelphia Phillies, May 27, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
The Phillies try to reach six games over .500 tonight as their series with the Rockies continues. The team has failed to move to six over in five previous attempts, so maybe they were waiting for the numbers to align.
Earlier today I wrote about the last time the Phils scored 35 runs in two games, a bit less than nine years ago. In the third game, they didn't crack double digits, but they did win 6-2. So we got that going for us, which is nice.
Colorado starter Ubaldo Jiminez has pitched well in two no-decisions against the Phillies, including a 6 1/3 inning, one-run appearance in Game Three of last October's NLDS. His season numbers (1-4, 4.61) aren't great, but he's coming off an excellent start last week against the Giants: seven innings, three hits, no runs.
The Phils lineup tonight, per Zolecki (who also has good Kris Benson news):
1) Jimmy Rollins, SS
2) Shane Victorino, CF
3) Chase Utley, 2B
4) Ryan Howard, 1B
5) Pat Burrell, LF
6) Geoff Jenkins, RF
7) Pedro Feliz, 3B
8) Carlos Ruiz, C
9) Kyle Kendrick, P

Good Kris Benson news would be nice….as i was thinking last night
The Red Sox – they got Bartolo Colon and reclaim him
The phillies – they get benson and can’t even get him to the show level…it was sad

Where did you read the latest on our Mike Hampton? I’m a little pissed that every step forward is followed by 2 steps back. Oh well cheap insurance, I guess.
Rollins
As well as he is hitting I wonder how big the ball looks…probably like a softball.
Yeah, definitely more talk when there’s stuff to complain about. This has been delightful.
I borrowed a friend’s car drove down to Philly for a family function Sunday afternoon; when I got in, we were losing 6-4 and I was of mixed feelings about the fact that I could receive 1210 even from NYC. As they started beating the holy hell out of the Astros, though, and I was making great time down the NJ Turnpike, it was all good, and at least with the team it’s stayed good for the two games since.
It does seem there’s more to talk about when we have something to bitch about. I guess it’s part of being a Phillies Phan. BTW glad to see you were at the game yesterday.
!st Bitch
Charlie needs to bench Dobbs, he left 2 men on. The slump continues (snickers).
Kendrick will come out in the 8th and wheeler is saying how it might be a good thing.
Who knew there would come a day when i thought it was BAD that i got the home team broadcasts on the pay per view packag

The mets had men on second on third with no outs and failed to score…that was awesome

The team we should be worrying about the most is neither the Mets nor the Marlins, but Atlanta. So go Brewers.
I do not fear the Braves, Tim Hudson is at 121 pitches in the bottom of the 8th of a tie game with 2 outs, and the braves got no one they can bring in.
