May 30: Myers vs. Hendrickson
Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies, May 30, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
The top two teams in the NL East meet up for the first game of a three game weekend series, with the surprising first-place Marlins facing the surging Phillies.
Phillies starter Brett Myers hopes to close what has otherwise been a disastrous month of May (0-4, 6.67 ERA) on a positive note. Marlins starter Mark Hendrickson goes for win #8.

Meyrs off to a craptastic start.
With the day off couldn’t they have, you know, ‘skipped’ myers?

Thanks for a good laugh. Myers start doesn’t surprize me. He really is an asshole and I think it’s all self inflicted. I wanna close, I wanna close….Geesh.
Coste
Gets us even with a 3 run blast. He is the right handed Dobbs. What a treat.
Utley
I like a good LH swing for some reason. I love his because it’s so compact. A pure hitter.
The phillies will need more than 7 to win this game

Chollie figures the longer he leaves Myers in, the less likely he is to hang onto the QS.
I’m a Clay Condrey fan myself, ever since the goofy game last year against Florida where Barajas stood up and let a run in, and then Myers hurt himself. Condrey came in and snagged a liner back through the box to end the inning. Phils later won the game, after imploding in that inning.
Myers with 10K, seriously.
Jeez, all of the sudden he is looking unhittable. I am gonna withhold my judgments until his next start, but I suspect he might have turned a mental corner.
i’m gonna withold my judgement about him turning a corner for more than 2 games personally

I’ve been watching the game on the phone for the last however long since I posted. Myers looks fantastic. His velocity still isn’t quite what we might like-seems like he’s sitting 88-89, up to 93 on one or two occasions-but so long as he’s hitting his spots, who cares.
The only slight bummer about this game is that the Marlins have so damn many relievers, it’s impossible to blow out their bullpen for the next two…
