June 14: Eaton vs. Lohse

Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals, Jun 14, 2008 3:55 PM EDT

Twenty or so hours after taking apart Todd Wellemeyer and the Cardinals in a 20-2 win, the Phillies will try to perform a similar ERA enlargement on former teammate Kyle Lohse this afternoon. Annoyingly, anyone out of the Philly market and a few other locations--like me, for example--won't be able to watch either on broadcast TV or mlb.tv. The upside is that Mark Grace will be broadcasting the game, so it's an easy case to make that you'd rather be stuck with Harry, Larry and Scott on the radio than that braying jackass, even with moving picatchurs.

Adam Eaton takes the mound for the Phils, hoping for his fifth straight quality start. Carlos Ruiz gets the day-game-after-night-game start after his 4-for-6, 4 RBI performance on Friday.

Time for some back to back to back action.

For Who? My teammates.

For What? To Win.

How Much? Where do I sign?

Eaton really really sucks.

It’s not even like he’s been pitching really poorly…Its just so difficult to watch him pitch because you know the potential for him to completely suck is just so high. Giving up homeruns in 0-2 and 1-2 counts just irks me beyond comprehension.

especially when its a 1-2 homerun to Adam friggin Kennedy.

I have to admit that when Eaton fails, on some level I find it reassuring—as if the universe makes sense again.

Two strikeouts in the inning is a good sign though.

Eaton gives up a 2 run show to Adam Kennedy. Yeah, him.

Lohse turned down 3 years, 21 from us, he can go F himself.

Yeah but who is his agent? Uh Huh Scott Bore-ass.

Its gonna be one of THOSE days from Eaton. When is the last time this friggin’ joke got the leadoff hitter out.

Way to go “A to the EZ”

by wehatetolose on Jun 14, 2008 4:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Is it possible that Eaton simply can’t throw out of the wind up? EVERY leadoff hitter gets on…

BTW…way to waste a leadoff double…I think we will probably lose today. Well, I’m not feeling great about our chances at least.

Ok, I can’t stand this anymore. I might just take Eaton’s starts off from now on. At least I made it through 2.5 innings.

Burrell takes Lohse out of the yard to follow a Howard single. 3-2 game.

Phils can’t quite solve Lohse, who has thrown 76 pitches through five innings. Maybe he’ll tire (I remember him being a bad 7th inning guy with us), or with the full Cardinals bullpen a little depleted from last night, they can get him out soon and tear up some soft underbelly.

Stoopid Kyle Lohse.

Not so fast…if he gives up another ER I don’t think it counts as a QS anymore does it?

Again…Eaton shows his utter inability to get the first batter out.

Stupid to hit Loshe there. The extra run is worth one more inning from Lohse. Stupid baserunning and now nobody on base.

Another 2 strike hit…Eaton’s quality starts are very low quality. Thank god he’s gone.

Nice K for Jesus Christ Romero there.

Rollins looks really terrible right now.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 14, 2008 5:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This is really frustrating, especially after dropping 20 last night.

What a pitiful display for the top of the 9th…4 pitches, 3 outs. Give me a break. This cant be the same team from yesterday.

AND…Jenkins pop-out was actually a hit…instant replay please…

by FuquaManuel on Jun 14, 2008 6:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I am actually really pissed about this. The outfielder missed it by like 3 feet! It’s unacceptable to miss that call in a 1-run game.

Ryan Franklin? Really? The guy I called “Boom-Boom” for his homeriffic propensities while a Phillie? Ugh.
