Vote Coste!
I hereby declare the launch of Vote Coste '08, a Bob Barr-level longshot campaign to get Phillies catcher and published author Chris Coste to Yankee Stadium in uniform for the 79th All-Star Game on July 15.
Coste isn't on the ballot, as the Phils (understandably) sent in Carlos Ruiz as their listed starting catcher. But you can write him in--and I believe you should. I did twice today, and will do so another 23 times.
Through the fourth inning of tonight's game, Coste is hitting over .330, with 6 home runs in 99 at-bats. His OPS is close to 1.000. As David Cohen pointed out recently, Coste now has almost a full season's worth of playing time since reaching the majors at age 33 in 2006; he's batting .315 in 426 at-bats with 18 home runs and an OPS over .850.
Fans can vote online up to 25 times. Here's the link:

If you have multiple email addresses, you can vote more than 25 times. In fact, I remember hearing last year about some way you could clear your cache and vote more than 25 times with just one address. I’m not sure exactly how that works.

Also, it is easy enough to vote down at the ballpark. I remember that I single handedly voted for Pat Burrell over 3,000 times one year. This seems like a worthy cause, so starting tomorrow, I shall write-in Coste’s name on the ballot many, many times.

I have voted for Coste 100 times as of now. I am going for 1000.

How do you vote so many times? I found 25 times pretty tedious.

I only vote at the ballpark, much easier…

It is tedious…and I highly doubt I will actually come close to 1000. Just trying to rally the troops.
