Gamethread: Phils @ Rangers, 6/27/08
Philadelphia Phillies @ Texas Rangers
I'll keep this short and sweet. It's Arlington Ballpark, a soupy Texas night in June, and Kason Gabbard on the mound for the Rangers, and the Werth-leadoff lineup. Hittin' time. Mmmkay, fellas?

Dear Mother of God. Another HR served up. 1 up 1 out (of the park) number 24 I think.

It’s gotta get better real soon for Myers. I’ll bet Gillick has a plan though. That would be my guess.

He made some nice pitches to get out of that.

I see he’s relying on off speed pitches even when down in the count. That’s gutsy but good to see.

RELIEF?
Any chance this would be the game where Chad Durbin gets a chance to pitch more than a couple of innings?

Call me crazy
5-2 bases loaded no outs, I swear to God I’d pull him now.

Not crazy
I’m not watching, just following on ESPN, but if Myers can’t get an out fast I’d pull him before the lead vanishes.

since we’ve had a game like this. Have to rely on the offense to finally wake up.

I really, really hate interleague play. Since I haven’t mentioned it in the gamethread yet.
Sincerely, $(&% the DH, (x%x$ the AL West, (x%x$ Texas, %)($ the Phillies’ awful hitting.
Oh, and especially, twisty-sandpaper %)(*$ Brett Myers.

Something has to be done
With Myers. What I don’t know but this has gone on way too long. Might as well come up with a phoney injury to DL him and bring Gaylord Perry out of retirement, he’d be more effective.

I am getting close to throwing in the towel. We are in the doldrums, our supplies are low and that salt water is looking mighty tasty fellas. Did anyone happen to kill an albatross?

Food for thought...
Myers’ next start is scheduled for July 3. J.A. Happ goes tomorrow for Lehigh Valley, and four days rest after that would put his next start at - you guessed it - July 3.
Just saying…
