MLB.com update - Hart in close race with Wright
The update says that Hart is leading in a two-man race with Wright. It says Burrell is third, but calling it a two-man race indicates Burrell is not close.

Going soon
I’m heading to the game late today. I’m taking my 2 year old for the post-game kids run the bases promotion. We’ll go late since he can’t last the entire game, so I’ll bring him for the second half rather than the first. Sine he’s just 2, he’ll need me to go on the field with him of course. Can’t wait!

This is the sort of thing that almost makes me wish I had kids… have a great time.

Howard with an absolutely tremendous AB against Looper: fell behind, worked the count full, fouled off a few pitches, then lasered a decent pitch over the wall in left-center.
2-0 Phils.

Looper’s up around 50 pitches with one out in the 3rd. Given how much LaRussa had to use his bullpen last night, the Phils have to stay patient these next couple innings.

Fouling a lot off, but I can’t say I am disappointed with the 3-1 lead, although it would have been nice for Coste to have driven in a run there.

Alyssa Milano in the broadcast booth. Can’t believe she’s older than me… she’s seriously flirting with Matthews.

Moyer’s thrown just 65 pitches through 5. (Now 66 through 5 1/3.) I imagine that Lidge is unavailable, so we’ll need at least 7 from him and then some good work from Romero and Madson to finish it.

Just to keep everyone updated:
Howard now has 83 RBI, 82 hits. Anyone know if someone has led the league in RBIs and had more RBIs than hits?

I’m pretty certain it’s happened, but I can’t remember when or by whom.

Madson in to start the 8th. The bullpen is a little questionable right now with Gordon out, Lidge perhaps limited today (Wheeler just said he’s available, but he threw 30 pitches last night), Romero still with his groin barking, etc.
The bullpen might need the ASB more than any other part of this team.

1-2-3 for Madson in the 8th. They said on the broadcast, and I agree, that he’s now throwing like he did in that month last summer when he didn’t allow a run. Of course, he then got hurt…

Looks like Romero will pitch the 9th with two lefties due. Some extra runs would have been nice there.

Whoops, wrong. Madson still in. Romero and, now, Lidge warming up.

Nope, not Lidge—Condrey. Kalas is misguiding me…
Ankiel singles to lead off the 9th.

Madson can’t seal the deal; Romero coming in with two on, one out and Aaron Miles at the plate.

Ballgame. Romero gets the last two outs after some tough ABs from St. Loo.
