Part II: Gamethread, 7/18/08

Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins, Jul 18, 2008 7:10 PM EDT

Now tied for first place with the scalding hot Mets and a game and a half ahead of third-place Florida, the Phillies begin a six-game stretch of unusual importance for July that will take them through Miami and New York. Neither starter should lack for confidence tonight: Jamie Moyer has nine career wins in nine starts facing the Marlins, while Ricky Nolasco already has beaten the Phils twice this year and is 3-1, 2.28 against them for his career. Florida has won Nolasco's last seven starts.

BOISE?!!!?

I just remembered how much I loathe the MLB Extra Innings commercial that runs during the Free Preview weeks…

Moyer is just falling apart. I don’t anticipate him being in this game much longer.

God I hate Sarge and TMac. Were they really just talking about TMac’s choice of undershirt?

They are still better than the marlins disaster of a broadcast

Carlos Ruiz is just so friggin’ terrible. The catcher’s position has become a black hole for us. Marson can’t become major league ready soon enough.

So what do we do about third since donald just isn’t a third baseman according to the phillies?

by jemagee on Jul 18, 2008 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I dunno, but what does that have to do with Marson?

I just feel that 3rd base has been a problem longer than catcher and wish they’d do something about it

by jemagee on Jul 18, 2008 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

oh, yeah, I agree there. but at least Feliz has been okay this year. But since we lost Rolen, 3rd base has been a black hole as well.

Moyer

You gotta love Moyer, especially against the Marlins. Looked like they were about to knock him out and the next thing you know he’s shown them who’s boss.

Ah, now that is a classic Ryan Howard AB.
