Philadelphia @ Florida
It's Kyle Kendrick versus Scott Olsen this afternoon in the FishBowl, a Hollywood showdown pitting the callow and wholesome Phillies righthander against the possibly sociopathic Marlins southpaw. Kendrick is 1-0, 2.57 in two career starts against Florida, while Olsen is 3-5, 5.33 in ten lifetime starts against a team he detests.
The Phillies lineup, courtesy of Scott Lauber:
SS Jimmy Rollins (.273/6/31), CF Shane Victorino(.278/5/29), 2B Chase Utley (.294/25/70), 1B Ryan Howard (.234/29/85), LF Pat Burrell (.274/23/57), RF Jayson Werth (.270/12/36), 3B Pedro Feliz (.266/12/45), C Chris Coste (.279/7/21), RHP Kyle Kendrick (8-3, 4.47).
Also per Lauber, Joe Blanton has been added to the active roster, with reliever Joe Bisenius assigned back to Lehigh Valley. Brett Myers is back with the team, but has not been activated.

WTF! How about not running on contact w/ balls hit to 3rd base. This team appears clueless on offense.

Great job Rollins! MVP alright. You looked like a champ on that AB.

And there you go, 3-run shot and the Phils are now down 3-1. I guess that is what they get for (a) being unable to put hitters away with 2 strikes and (b) blundering away runs by idiotic baserunning and pitiful AB’s. I think I am already done with this shit show.

Franzke’s voice always weirds me out.
I just turned this on, it doesn’t look good, and I think I’ll be turning it off to head for the gym in about a half-hour.

What the hell is a Jeff John Baker? Shouldn’t he play for the Braves, and perhaps marry in-family?

Nice job Werth. Bigger glove maybe? I don’t think we will win this game, I really don’t.

Maybe not, but after they made me feel like such an ass with my relentless negativity last Sunday, I’m going to try not to misery it up quite so much. The hits with RISP last inning were heartening, and it’s not like Olsen looks he’s going to shut them down.
Redneck catcher out at second trying to stretch.

Well, the way I figure it, they are GUARANTEED to lose at least 1 game every weekend, that is just the way it has been all season. Cole is pitching tomorrow, and I’d really hate to see him take another loss. So I am actually hoping that if they lose one, this is it.

Pat CRUSHED that. Good lord. And the way he ran it out it looked like he had just popped out to short or something.

Kendrick REALLLY wants to lose this game. 2 strike tater. Shut down inning is not in this kids vocabulary.

Kendrick’s got nothing today. The bullpen wasn’t taxed last night, they’ve got Cole tomorrow, and an off-day on Monday. Get him out of there.

I don’t see how he manages to be even as “average” as he has been over the course of his career. He’s a complete joke with 2 strikes. Unless he develops an effective out pitch, I have a feeling that what we are seeing is the best Kendrick will ever be.

And there goes another homer. 7-4 Florida. And that’s my cue. Kendrick, you suck. Cholly, you suck for leaving him in there.

Okay, I’m done as well. If they come back, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
