7/2/08: Eaton vs. Campillo
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves, Jul 2, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
The Phils go for two in a row in this rematch of the last game before The Sucking began. R.J. Swindle in da hizzy; Werth/Coste in the lineup. This game also begins a stretch of, I think, five straight in which yours truly won't be around, so play nice.

Hey did'ya hear?
Apparently the Phillies recent problems are attributable to Philliesleadership_is_about_to_be_tested.html” >their void in leadership after losing Aaron Rowand.

Haven’t been around for the first few innings. Tell me, has Eaton been in any trouble? How has he looked generally?
All over the place in the 3rd, otherwise … alright.
Somewhat typical Eaton starts this year. Constantly nervous but still pitching okay.

I actually can’t remember very many games this season where the Phillies had a lead for Eaton – either they couldn’t score or Eaton had already fallen behind in the first inning. Eaton may not know how to pitch with a five-run lead.

I remember Inky was close in 93 until he got a few hits at the end of the season…

For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?
Agreed. Isn’t there anyone else available in the way of backup outfielders to replace him?

Ryan Howard did not just make another error. This man is incredible in his ability to do only one good thing on the baseball field.
Doesn’t Lidge deserve some kind of save for that one – a single, two errors, and three K’s!
