7/3/08: Hamels vs. Jurrjens

Philadelphia @ Atlanta

The Phillies go for their second road sweep of the Atlanta Braves this season, with young lefty Cole Hamels taking the mound against even younger righty Jair Jurrjens.

In the past two games, the Phillies have scored late-game runs which have put the games away, and last night proved especially important, as two errors by Ryan Howard allowed the tying run to come to the place in the person of the always dangerous Mark Teixeira.

Brooms out, fellas.

J.A. Happ

I like giving the extra day of rest to Moyer. It will be interesting to see how three straight lefties do later on, however.

Hopefully it won’t be for that long anyway. I mean, I hope Happ acquits himself well and earns a spot in the rotation for next April. But I also hope Myers gets back on track soon and bumps Happ back to AAA until then.

Hamels

looks pretty darn good.

I also like seeing them get that runner in from third with less than two outs, for a change, especially with the obligatory Ruiz GIDP coming up.

I must admit

“Jair Jurrjens” is a pretty cool name.

two words: Randy Wolf.

To paraphrase a very smart man: Hegel remarks somewhere that history repeats itself. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as comedy.

Sweep. The Braves are this years version of the 07 mets to us. Lets hope the Mets can also be this years version of the ‘07 mets.
