A nice, quiet little beach community: Game Thread 8/12/08
Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers, Aug 12, 2008 10:10 PM EDT
After fighting back but falling just short in last night's contest, the Phils send Cole Hamels to the mound this evening to attempt to right the ship. The Dodgers will counter Hamels with a young lefty of their own, 20 year old Clayton Kershaw, the 7th overall pick in the 2006 amateur draft.
Thusfar Kershaw has given up lots of baserunners (1.53 WHIP) but has limited the damage by keeping the ball in the park (4 HR in 60.2 IP). He's been outstanding in his last three starts - 1 R in 19 IP.

Young pitcher, good stuff, lefty, Phils have never faced him before…hmm, considering that it is unlikely we will score on the kid, perhaps it would be wise to be patient and try to get to the bullpen by the 6th or 7th.
Shall we play the when will the Phils score game?

According to Vin Scully
Bruntlett was introduced to Algebra at 6, got a 1460 on his SAT and graduated with a 3.9.
Apparently which helps him get a hit too!
Although I gotta admit, if I can’t watch the Phillies feed, Vin is a voice I love listening to.

I got the same score he did! That’s a conversation starter if I ever meet him.

Wasn’t it? I think my wheelchair bound grandmother could have given a better AB. She would have at least taken a few pitches

I am always amazed by a person who is supposed to be so intelligent has such a low baseball IQ.

Well, a bit of concern cause he threw so many pitches the last inning and he was at 100. Fortunately, it was the bottom of the Dodger’s order (I include Pierre there). Just hope Cole id done now, no need to push our luck with his arm.

3 to 1 – you notice how much Phelps looks like the East German ‘ladies’ weightlifting team from the 70’s?

no chance I dont think. drug testing there is getting nuts, so I doubt he’d test it. also, most of those guys don’t even want to get very big. he said he just starting lifting this year
not steroids, I meant EPO and blood doping…they have a new kind of EPO that can’t be tested for yet.
