Sweet victory!  The Phillies manage to win a ballgame last night thanks to the ageless Jamie Moyer, and the wholly competent Pat Burrell.  The offense is still inexplicably awful, but the "wins" all count the same.

If it's San Diego, there must be a half-hearted Anchorman joke.  Easy, lazy, sloppy.  If there are any San Diegans out there, how sick are you of being associated with that film?

Tonight the Phillies face right-hander Chad Reineke, making his major league debut.  And, if you've followed the Phillies for any length of time, you know we're about to witness a 7 IP/ 3 H / 1 R masterpiece.

Kyle Kendrick gets the ball for the Phillies.

Nearly failed…Small disaster averted. Terrible AB by Howard still.

Yeah Shane!

I like him in the 6 hole.

They saw 36 pitches in the first. Get out of this unscathed—and it’s nice to see a first-pitch out—and we should have smooth sailing.

Kendrick has been wild tonight.

Goddamnit Kendrick. RBI hit to the pitcher…after running a full count.

He’s really starting to fall apart again.

Get him the hell out of there…he’s a compete mess.

And just like that: 5-3 Padres.

Bang that’s the sound of me shooting myself in the head.

Kendrick, screw you…two weak ass showings in a row.

Just got home

I see Jim-Me’s struggles continue…what a shame. It’s Karma Jim-Me. Karma.

Something tells me 3 runs will be the extent of our scoring on this night.

by FuquaManuel on Aug 16, 2008 11:49 PM EDT reply actions

Actually I have noticed 6 hits is becoming normal, therefore a HPB, BB and HR gets us even. Sigh

I am thinking about taking a break from this team until September. This is just too difficult to watch.
