The Second Meyers
Meyers looks pretty good since he came back.
With tonight's shutout, by my calculation, since he came back from Allentown Myers is:
3-1
ERA 1.99
K/9 0.74
WHIP 0.98
in 6 appearances, 40 2/3 innings.
I'll never like him again since the wife-beating thing but it's good to have him back with some confidence.
I remember a time when he was a pretty good-hitting pitcher though, and he's utterly incompetent at the plate this year. He's especially bad at bunting, but the whole Phillies team is incompetent at bunting.

Well, Moyer and Hamels handle the bat pretty well. But yeah, Myers’ bunting tonight was execrable. I think we can forgive that though…
I think you mis-posted something on the K/9 number—is that maybe strikeouts per inning? If so, the K/9 would be 6.66 (he’s eeevil!).
The less than one runner per inning is pretty sweet. He just seems to be hitting spots better, and throwing strike one—which means both fewer walks and fewer bad counts where he has to give in and winds up distributing souvenirs.
Pretty amazing turnaround.
before you pass judgement on him
because of the wifebeating incident…consider all the players you like where you don’t know what their flaws are. My point isn’t to remove blame from Myers, but rather, using something that you know or possibly don’t know as a reason to not like his success for your team.
For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?
