I’m really happy with the way Blanton is going, but this is now 14 innings in a row that the phils have failed to score a run.
Blanton’s performance (and I realize the jinx of typing this) is essentially against a AAA team.
It benefited the Phils that the Pirates dumped Jason Bay.
Please prove me wrong Chase….pretty please?

Terrible that I was thinking the same thing: “two guys on base, lefty on lefty, no shot he does something good.”
If you’d told me three months ago that anyone could lack faith in Chase, no way I would have believed it.
Now we have right-wing nutjob Jim Bunning in the booth. If Slim gets lit up this inning, that will be why.
wife is watching the opening ceremonies to the olympics (which are pretty impressive I’ll admit) so I’ve got the sound turned down on the broadcast. Would’ve liked to have heard Bunning. I hear he’s a bad congressman.
You don’t have to worry about the gentleman from Kentucky f’ing up the FO in this inning

Blanton
ESPN Scoreboard has Blanton as one of its top three performers – for 6 IP, 1H, 0 Runs – and he’s not winning!

Juan Samuel
If he was in the lineup tonight he might have swung and missed at a few curveballs, but he’d probably have scored by now as well.
Blanton pissed after that walk to McLouth.
Seriously, at this point we’ve got some big bruisers on that pitching staff. Blanton, Myers and maybe Hamels should just start beating the crap out of the regulars.
97 pitches for Maholm. This has got to be his last inning. Unfortunately, he’s facing a slumping Coste, worthless Bruntlett, and then either Blanton or So Taguchi as the useless PH with 0 on and 2 out.
Watching Coste has been absolutely painful in the past few weeks.

Ok, months, but especially the past few weeks

Yeah, but at least I have hope, no matter how useless, when the top of the order comes up….spots 6-9, I just want to put a .45 in my mouth and pull the trigger

Kind of like when he first came up. I honestly thought there was no way he would ever hit major-league pitching when he started out something like 0-for-10.

I’d cut either Taguchi or Walrond and bring up Jaramillo right now. No way he could be any freaking worse than Coste or Ruiz.
Jaramillo is hitting .260/.324/.377 in AAA. I’d say there’s a pretty significant chance he’s worse than Coste and a decent chance he’s worse than Ruiz.

Tip O' The Hat To Blanton
Shame to see him have such a good line and will get a ND. Guess he knows how Cole feels. Jesus this is painful.
Just wanted to pick you up a little tonight

Utley, Howard, Burrell, Werth
1 for 13 wiith 7 K’s.
I wasn't so sure
Hell – poor Harry. He tried to will the Phils a run. He’s gotta be bored outta his gourd watching this catastrophe.
Too bad the homers in the booth don’t count

As terrible as that is… at least they’re getting on base. RISP is basically chance, so they’ve gotta improve at some point.
...right?

Wendlestedt’s strike zone has been quite inconsistent tonight. He’s not biased towards a team, but it’s not very good. If I was a pitcher I’d be ticked off.
I don’t think so, but probably someone else might know better than I

Classic pull the outside pitch and roll over on it….I know 8 year olds who deal with the outside pitch better than some of these fools

My wife just put her head in her hands and told Bruntlett to go to hell

so much for the thought of pitching LIdge more than in inning if needed. 1/3 IP, 24 pitches.
Please please please score so I don’t have to print another scoresheet. I’ve only got 10 innings on mine.
How long have you kept scoresheets for the Phils?

I do it when I get a chance to watch the game un-interrupted. Been doing so the past three years. This is my first one about a month, but I’ve also gone 2 weeks in a row at times without missing a game.
I used to do it when I first got Extra Innings in ‘05 but I got too impatient to continue.

If I were managing....
IBB Utley and Howard to get Burrell facing the RHP.
Hopefully Burrell walks.
I’m going to start printing page 2….
Hope you don’t run out of paper or ink

This team is the proverbial train-wreck that you can’t look away from. There is something about it that makes one watch.

I’m pretty sure Madson is unavailable after pitching 3 straight, so that only leaves Walrond, Condrey, and Eyre. Given the batters the Pirates have coming up I think it makes sense.

Doumit
Hmm ….Phillies could use a switch-hitting catcher hitting .333.

I just moved back to Philly so I’m no longer using it. I figure if you’re sadistic enough to be watching this game at this point, you deserve it. All you have to do is promise me that you’ll actually use it. Email kauffj@gmail.com.
It turns out that when you put in a minor league pitcher even minor league hitters score runs.

The Great Unwashed is coming in to ‘relieve’ Walrond.

Thes kinda games make me think about getting ready for fantasy football…but I know I will be back tomorrow for the continuing torture. God I’ma sick sick bastard.
You and me both….I need a reason to go see the doctor, and the ulcer the Phillies have given me will only get bigger

Wasting Greg Dobbs
Start Eric Bruntlett, never PH Dobbs, then put him in in an extra inning game, after you’ve given the other team the lead, and in the lineup where he’s due to bat 6th in the next inning.
Swing at shit, above .200 you’ll never hit

at least I’ve got hope that I might get to go to inning 13. Utley and Howard can’t go 0-10 can they?
23 scoreless innings in a row
Larry Anderson just put it perfectly: “It’s not like Sandy Koufax is out there.” Still in first by a game – amazing. I’m going to stop paying attention to this team for a while.
