After a three game series with the Marlins ended quite badly yesterday, Wild Card-leading Milwaukee comes to Philadelphia for a four game series four games ahead of the Phillies in the Wild Card standings.  Almost seems too perfect... a great set-up for 2007 dramatics, or crushing 2003-era disappointment.  Not to mention that the Phillies sit tied with Houston in the Wild Card race, with St. Louis just a half game behind both.  It won't be easy.

Adding more difficulty to the situation is the Brewers' starting pitcher tonight -- Ben Sheets.  The fireballing righty takes on not-so-fireballing lefty Jamie Moyer.

The Phillies absolutely must win at least 3 of 4 in this series to have a shot.  A four game sweep?  Even better.

It is safe to say that Ryan Howard is Chernobyl-level hot right now.

Ryan Howard’s recent outburst should serve to underscore the ridiculousness of the recent Carlos Delgado MVP rumblings.

A gutty outing by Moyer, who pitched much better than his final line would indicate — especially considering he had a high pitch count early on, then really settled down before the Fielder HR.

One game at a time now. Hamels needs to put Sunday behind him and come up with a quality outing tomorrow, and we’ll go from there.

Toughest game of the series (on paper) by far, unless they dust of Sabathia on short rest for Sunday. Now they just have to take care of things the next three starts, where the pitching matchups are much more favorable.

Wow. Not much action here last night.

I’ll try to be chatty in tonight’s thread, unless they beat the life out of me.
