After a solid victory in Thursday night's game thanks to the continued hitting heroics of Ryan Howard, and a gutty pitching effort on three days rest by Jamie Moyer, the Phillies managed to snag a game from the Brew Crew and their co-Ace Ben Sheets, battering him around in the process.

Last night's rainout twists everything around... both teams decided not to play on Monday -- a mutual off-day -- instead voting to make the game up with a day-night doubleheader on Sunday.  Thanks to stupid ESPN, the World-Wide Leader in Killing Fan Enthusiasm, the nightcap won't be on television due to Sunday Night Baseball exclusivity.  Enjoy Tigers-White Sox, baseball fans!

This afternoon the Phils send their ace to the mound in Cole Hamels, who despite a rough outing last weekend against the Mets, appears set to rebound.  Manny Parra pitches for the Brewers.

Let’s go Cole! A start like that 8 inning, 11 K performance last summer would be nice.

BTW…Tom McCarthy is doing the Fox commentary today.

Long inning gets longer for Cole. Needs to settle down and throw more strikes.

sucks

New York Metro area = Mets game on Fox. Two of the four games this series will be unwatchable, even with the Extra Innings package. Unacceptable.

Yeah, you just have to be prepared to weather his annual mega-slump.

Cole just doesn’t seem to have much today.

Pat Burrell, what the fuck?

Routine flyball turns into a double.

Perhaps Cole is starting to show the fatigue after his longest season…His defense hasn’t helped him much today though.

I have this awful feeling in my gut that this is going to be one of those games where we jump out to an early comfortable lead and then the bats go dead allowing the opposing team to slowly climb back into it.

But then again, I am very negative. Hope I am wrong.

Durbin is fried…absolutely fried.

by FuquaManuel on Sep 13, 2008 6:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well I’ll be one of the first to admit I have accused Charlie of leaving the starters in for one inning too many and yet by not replacing Flash (imo) the Phils have ridden Romero and Durbin like rented mules and it’s caught up as expected. I really think they are both pitching on guts now. But honestly do you want to see Madson? I don’t and never have.

Bottom of the the 8th

Atl just scored 3 to go up on the Mess 3-2. Johan pitched well but it’s yet another ND. Sigh………
