Oooh baby baby, it's a Wild Card: Brewers at Phillies, Game Two: 9/14/08
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies, Sep 14, 2008 7:35 PM EDT
Okay kiddies, now this is getting exciting. This afternoon the Phillies overcame a two run deficit in the 7th inning to surge past "Special Ned" Yost and the fading Milwaukee Brewers, winning 7-3. The Phillies now sit just ONE GAME behind the Brewers for the Wild Card lead, and 1 1/2 games in back of the Mets (albeit 2 games in the loss column). A win ties the Phillies for the Wild Card lead. A loss puts them two games back. Nope, not a big game tonight. Not at all.
Brett Myers goes for the Phillies on three days rest against Jeff Suppan. Howard and Rollins are hot. Burrell's hitting the ball a little better. No reason they can't win this. Which means the Phils will lose 15-0, I just know it.
Strap yourselves in. I don't have this one on TV. Hopefully you do.

Myers gave up a few long loud outs…but no harm done in the first.

I’m a little disappointed that the game thread title wasn’t something like “We Eat Supp for Dinner.” But so long as we win, whatevski.

Harry successfully reads 90210 in the preview as nine-oh-two-one-oh. He is now 1/3, having said nine-zero-two-one-zero the last two times I can remember.

Pedro Feliz just sucks…but I don’t even need to say that.

Not only has Brett Myers been pitching better than Hamels, he’s now hitting better than him too.

Jimmy delivers…somehow Brett managed to score after being dead by about 10 feet.

Brett Myers is a 5 tool baseball player.

Great stuff.
Only thing that bothers me about Jimmy getting thrown out there is that it shortened the recovery time for Myers after his baserunning adventures…

Myers velocity is way down…now he seems to be losing his composure somewhat.

They need to be giving Myers the O2 tank in the dugout and take a lot of pitches this frame (bad start by the usually patient Werth). Though the fact that he’s thrown 30 pitches through 3 is pretty sweet.

Wow, if Pat could get hot again, I think that would punch our ticket into the playoffs.

Again, Richie Ashburn is rolling over in his grave so rapidly that if you attached a generator to his toe you could solve the energy crisis.
Never bunt with runners on first and third.

Yeah, I hate that goddamn play. Whitey was righty.

Suppan done, 6-0 Phils. Bases still jacked, 2 outs. Holla.

Not able to watch the game – stupid ass MLB restrictions – were even the outs against Suppan hard hit?

Some were, some weren’t…sorry if that is completely unhelpful. If I had to characterize the outs I would say that the balls hit in the air were generally line drives while the balls on the ground tended to be easy outs.

No prob…just trying to get a feel for a game that I can’t see…which is frustrating since I loyally watch every inning.

Solo homerun for the badguy’s fat ass. No worries, just stay calm Brett.

Myers still has thrown just 79 pitches. They could, and probably should, send him out for the 8th.

Send him out for the 9th, why the hell not?

I want him to go out there just so, if Manuel has to lift him, the crowd can break some eardrums cheering for what he’s done there tonight.

Good times. Great series!

95 Pitches, 2 hits, 1 Run, all on short rest. Fantastic.
At this very moment my wife is scolding me for my lack of faith after the Marlins series.
Fortunes change very quickly.
