Hamming it Up: Phillies at Braves, 9/18/08
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves, Sep 18, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
I'm really crappy at the prediction thing, or I'm a reverse jinx, so let me just say that there's NO WAY IN HELL THE PHILLIES WILL WIN THIS GAME.
That said, it's lefty-on-lefty tonight, as Mike Hampton goes for the Braves in an effort to earn a new contract so that his children may go to the best public schools available in Colorado, and Cole Hamels stretches his already very long season for the Phils. Hamels has shown signs of fatigue, while Hampton has been pretty sharp lately, including last weekend versus the Mets (thanks for that, Mikey).

I was just going to lambast the decision to put Madson in here, but damn he looks good.
Save a freak play there where he forgot to cover first. That’s not an error. Nobody would have been at first.
Big mess. Bloody f-cking hell.
Rollins drops the ball out of his glove. Run scores, men at first and third.
I thought it should have been Pat’s ball…he was standing around while Jimmy ran by him and muffed the catch

It’s like Feliz was mortally determined to eff that one up: 2-0 count, Julian Tavarez, and he rolls one over to third to end the inning, stranding two.
I wanted to let someone else diss Feliz first, but yeah. Not the first time I have said this, won’t be the last…Pedro Feliz has the worst approach at the plate of any player I have watched. Literally, this dude swings at the first fastball he sees, regardless of the count. What wonders it has worked for him: a sub .300 career OBP.
