Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

The Player Haters' Ball: Mets, Brewers Viewing and Discussion Thread: 9/25/08

Even though the Philadelphia Phillies are off tonight, two games of immense importance to their playoff hopes are being played tonight.

In Flushing, there's the theoretical possibility of a complete baseball game to be played tonight between the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs.  However, heavy rain in the forecast makes this a dicey proposition.  However, at just over one hour before game time, it doesn't appear to be raining yet, so maybe they will get this one in.

Rich Harden starts for the Cubs, versus Pedro Martinez for the Mets.

Second, in Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Brewers close out their three game set versus the hapless Pittsburgh Pirates.  It's worth mentioning again that the Pirates lost a game last night in which they only gave up two hits -- both singles.

Zach Duke goes for the Pirates versus Yovani Gallardo, making his first start since May.

Too bad the Cubs are running the JV bullpen out there, too…

Good thing their JV bullpen is better than the Mets’ varsity bullpen.

This will just make the Met’s loss that more excruciating for them.

I am sensing a momentum shifting walk off in the bottom of the 10th.

damnit, what the hell was that non-play at the plate. the ball was there seconds before the runners arrival!!!

I guess when you clinch in August you’ve earned the right to run your J.V. squad out there.
