PrintThe team will bring nine additional players to Florida next month, as David Murphy reports. They are pitchers Antonio Bastardo, Yorman Bazardo, and Gary Majewski; catchers Tuffy Gosewich and Paul Hoover; infielders Jason Donald and Marcus Giles, and outfielders Jason Ellison and Jeremy Slayden.
Of this group, Donald and Giles might have shots to compete for an infield job if Chase Utley isn't ready to go for Opening Day, and Majewski could be in the mix with fellow bullpen castoffs Blaine Neal, Mike Koplove, and Dave Borkowski to stand in for J.C. Romero while the lefty serves his 50-game suspension.
