A huge mistake to keep the game at 10:07. But, the Phils can shut everybody up by winning the damn thing.

might be a good thing
I want to play already but it might be good to have an extra day off to give blanton/happ some more rest. plus we might be able to bump lee into game 4 start if we need to

Exactly what I was just thinking. If I’m Charlie Manuel, my decision is really easy at this point: if I’m down 2-1, I use Lee on regular rest to start Game 4, and Hamels on regular rest to start Game 5; if I’m up 2-1, I hedge my bets by sending Happ to the mound if he’s healthy.
Remains to be seen if Charlie will think the same way, but I’ll tell you this much: I will be livid if we lose this series 3-1 and Lee doesn’t start Game 4.

I’m still confused, 5 days from Lee’s last start is Monday – him starting game 4 is just the normal rotation isn’t it?
Game 3 being postponed probably helps happ and blanton be available if pedro starts out weak.

Yup, Monday would be normal rest for Clifton.
As far as the rest of the rotation goes, David Murphy seems to think there’s a solid chance Happ will start tomorrow given the extra off day. I’d be all for that (provided he’s healthy, obviously), but I somehow doubt Charlie will have the same train of thought.

I feel this is good for us, the ideal pitching setup for us, and the extra rest continues to protect our bullpen.

I’d still start pedro – but just short leash him.
Hell 3 innings pedro, 3 innings happ, 3 inning blanton.

I have class until 9:45 on Monday night, so this is just wonderful for me.
This helps the pitching staff so much. I’m happy.

We might all be missing the boat here. This doesn’t help the pitching staff all that much if Pedro pitches 2 innings, Joe Blanton comes in for 1+, Happ for 0.1, Myers for 0.2, Eyre for 0.2, Durbin for 0.1, Kendrick for 0.1, Bastardo for 0.1, Madson for 1, Lee for a situational lefty out and Hamels to pinch run…. Oh, and of course we can’t forget Brad Lidge for the final 3 outs – he was our closer last year, he’s our closer this year while we put last year to rest.
Now that I look at it, that only gets us through what, 7 innings? We really should’ve carried 15 pitchers, no?

I hadn’t thought of it that way

12 pitchers
The roster makeup is really absurd, considering Charlie clearly doesn’t want to use several of the 12. Maybe he should have just carried his 5 starters plus Madson?

But as we saw last night you need to have a specific ninth inning pitcher…so you’d need at least 2 non starting pitchers.

And
And you need your pinch running pitcher….

Per Zolecki
Pedro said he doesn’t know if he’s starting Game 3. Stay tuned.

Vicente Padilla pitches a good game against the cards so the dodgers have at least 3 days to get ready for the NLCS…

Can’t say I like the idea of starting a game at 7 o’clock local time if the temperature is that cold to start, but at least they don’t have the early game again on Sunday. By the way, if game four starts after the Yankees-Twins game, at 8:37 ET, isn’t that creating a pair of tired teams for a possible game 5, which would start back in Philadelphia less than 24 hours later? I don’t see how they can schedule game 4 for anything other than the early start or, if the Twins-Yankees is over, maybe their time slot of 5:07 would work. Whichever way it turns out, at some point there is going to be a short turnaround: game four around 2:00 PM ET after a Sunday game that probably ends around 1:00 AM. Try getting a decent night sleep then. Even if game 4 starts later, if there’s a game 5, there’s a long flight before any chance for a full period of sleep. There might have been some advantage gained by postponing game three today, but now we’ll see how well the team performs under less than ideal circumstances.

too late
All the ticket holders made plans to get there tonight, it’d be a last-minute change and basically unworkable.
And the Broncos are playing (sigh)
