I can't tell whether it's behind the subscription wall, but according to Will Carroll, "[t]here is some flu going through the [Dodgers'] clubhouse, so that could create some havoc if there’s unavailable players."

well, it’s not behind the subscription wall. Mild disagree that the decision to swap out Myers for Park didn’t have something to do with injuries—Myers might have felt he could pitch, but the Phils must have been spotting or measuring something in the bullpen to convince themselves he wasn’t at his best.

hmmmm

while it’d be nice and chivalrous to hope that your can beat your opponent when they are at their best, if the flu were to keep Ethier out of the lineup a couple days and help lead to a couple philly wins, I wouldn’t really care in 5 years, nor do I doubt anyone else in the annals of history would.

Might not make a difference anyway. Remember Michael Jordan vs. the Jazz in ’97.

Baseball is a lot different from basketball as well, both in terms of goals and the means used to achieve those goals.

Is that the one where he pushed off and got away with it to make that historic shot which should have been an offensive foul?

However, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com did note that there’s a flu bug circulating through the team, so far affecting Jeff Weaver and Russell Martin (along with coach Don Mattingly). So the team might not be at 2,500%* when the series begins.

There’s multiple flu bugs circulating amid southern california – i’m working through the second one i’ve had in 3 weeks right now – they linger like a beyotch if you don’t rest – sapping your energy and giving you sweats and chills even after the fever breaks – the are nasty and irritating
