Cliff Lee will look to extend his run of postseason dominance tonight against Dodgers' righty Hiroki Kuroda, who despite a long layoff due to injury, will look to continue his run of dominance of the Phillies (0.95 ERA in three career starts, six (!) hits in 19 IP, plus the Dodgers' sole NLCS victory last season).

The Kinks are definitely a decent band, but not quite the same as the Beatles as far as their impact – not sure if that has anything to do with getting credit, but it’s hard to ignore the impact of the Beatles.

New Kids on the Block had ‘impact’ – they doesn’t make them good…as far as I’m concerned, the who, the kinks, led zeppelin, pink floyd, AC/DC, and the list goes on, were much BETTER than the beatles – the music they made was better, even if they didn’t get on ed sullivan

That doesn’t make them good…just because something is good iit doesn’t equate social impact – in fact – mediocrity appeals to more than greatness usually and thus can have a bigger impact – the beatles came along at the right time – but they weren’t even the best of their time…just the most popular.
Why do people equate popular with good? I’ve never understood it – just look at a show like american idol – the american public has little to no discerning taste.

The musicians we think have the best quality is a subjective argument. I happen to think the Beatles were better than any of those groups. Others disagree. It’s not a big thing. I guess it’s worth mentioning that one can like the Kinks and the Beatles and not feel wrong for enjoying both.

Victorino, in some ways, similar to Rollins...
Except you know, a better hitter, and a gold glover in his own right.
Somehow these announcers don’t grasp the fact that a realistic comparison of Victorino to Rollins this year is perhaps an undue compliment to Rollins.
Rollins plays one of the most difficult positions defensively in the game and he plays it great…and he’s also older than Victorino and accomplished more in his career….comparing them is like comparing the eagles to a good team who beats who they’re supposed to

Rollins is a great fielder, but he’s not leadoff caliber right now. Hence the jokes about Rollins coming up to bad with two outs is equivalent to turning the field over.
He’s not Pedro Feliz bad as far as being known only for his glove, but he hasn’t done much to justify batting first in quite a long while.
I agree – he hasn’t been a lead off hitter, like ever, but I don’t think Victorino is either

I think no longer living in Philly I was spared some of the “ZOMG Utley can’t throwz!!” hype. He’s never had problems throwing before. There’s never been any indication that he lets his mistakes get to his head. I’m not all that concerned going forward. I think some of the concern is based on a feedback cycle of people talking about it on WIP/950, getting concerned about it, thus talking about it more, thus getting even more concerned about it. Chase will be fine.

I plan to look a little closer to see if i can find ‘anything’ different from last year than this year regarding pitches, be it selection, sequence, release point is harder, but it’s a good exercise for me to try and learn this stuff

Fine to a point, but I had extended myself too far and didn’t have time for anything, so sadly had to drop the class…got through all the assginments up to that point but it unfrotunately had to be sacraficed….was interesting to learn though, i might take some more basic programming classes this spring, if anyone can give me a good idea where to ‘start’

So it would seem that the ‘best offense’ in this series is the one that leads the series…
But I don’t care what the douches say – what matters is that it’s 2-1 and the only ‘win’ the dodgers have was really given to them on a silver platter.
Felt good after game 2 – felt real good about Cliff Lee starting, I’m still feeling good.

The Phils might have to make a decision about that after the season. But if they get back to the WS after a year of playing it, it gets at least one more season. If they win it, it’ll be for a long long time.
