New York Yankees at Philadelphia Phillies, Oct 31, 2009 7:57 PM EDT
The World Series returns to Philadelphia after a one year absence. Cole Hamels, the hero of the 2008 postseason, goes for the Phillies against the Yankees' Andy Pettitte, the all-time leader in postseason victories. Despite a 3.83 postseason ERA which is just a touch below his regular season 3.91 mark. And the fact that he had the good fortune of playing on some tremendous teams during the three-tiered playoff era. Good pitcher in the regular season, good pitcher in the postseason. Nothing magical. But I digress...
Big implications here. Obviously. It's the World Series.

I think this whole “Ryan Howard and Alex Rodriguez have struggled throughout the World Series” trope is kind ridiculous. I mean, Howard had a good game 1 and a bad game 2. A-Rod has had two bad games. I wish they wouldn’t be stupid like this.

Every time there is a rain delay I always think of my favorite Simpsons THoH sketch where Kang and Kodos are watching the World Series… so many classic quotes:

Rain delays
The only thing good I can say about them is that the Phillies have a lot of experience playing in the rain/mist and seem to do fairly well: a couple of World Series games in Philadelphia last year and game one this year.

He’s a great singer when he doesn’t do the monkey screeches. He’s actually one of the few mainstream hard rock singers I can stand. Just not Down With the Sickness… And the issue is the fact that Down With the Sickness is their primary song instead of the ones where he actually uses his vocal talent.
Have your female friend listen to some extreme metal. Hell, Moonspell should do the trick. Deep voice plus occasional harsh vocals should make her melt. Devilred is a good song to start with. =p
