Around SBN: Kentucky Basketball: Where the Wildcats Stand as of Today

The good: The Rockies winningest pitcher and key arm over their last few months is off the roster. The Bad: It would have been nice to have faced his 9.78 ERA against the Phillies.

Yeah. It’s funny that the conventional wisdom on ESPN, etc. seems to be that De La Rosa, being lefthanded, was the Phillie stopper in the Rockies’ rotation. Our lineup is not really that lefthanded.

The guy who’s really killed our regulars throughout his career is Jason Marquis.

Yeah, I’m not the type to get psyched over injuries regardless, but even by those standards this really isn’t that good of a trade.

OTOH, De La Rosa IS a better pitcher than Marquis overall, and now’s as good of a time as any for a regression to the mean.

(OTOOH, I’ve been saying that about Tim Redding for the last three years.)
