Can’t really complain. Both were good candidates, as was Hanson.

Pretty much exactly what I was coming here to say. Happy with the showing by Happ (Finishes a close second, and was the only candidate to appear on all 32 ballots)

yeah….I was hoping for Happ, and I don’t think that was entirely homerism, but he did well enough to get it.

I’m not upset with Coughlan getting the award. He was a royal PITA to the Phillies.

That was actually my ballot.

For Who? My teammates.

For What? To Win.

How Much? Where do I sign?

Not sure, but can’t say I blame them. He’s a good candidate, and I wouldn’t begrudge anyone for voting for him, but given three spots, I’d have selected McCutchen, Hanson, and Happ. Coghlan was so poor defensively (-14.5 UZR/150 in left field, at the bottom of the defensive spectrum) that I couldn’t have justified him over McCutchen.

To each his own, though. I just don’t think it’s egregious to leave him off the ballot.

I agree, Coghlan was a great bat but garbage in the field.

In all fairness to Chris, he had one game of experience in the outfield prior to joining the fish. I saw him play in ’07 (Greensboro) and ’08 (Zebulon) and never saw him play anything other than 2nd. Not that he was exactly a Gold Glove hopeful there, but prior to ’09 those were the only spots he played.

I don’t care to much for this vote, I mean it could have went to any of the top 4, but I personally feel what McClutchen did in Pittsburgh in 20 games less then Coghlan made him more of a RoY.

Nice try Happ, your last starts probably lost you the award.

Almost...

If Happ had one more solid start at the end of the year I think it would have been his, but Coghlin finished the year on fire. Still a great year for Rooks throughout the majors.

I’m not gonna argue with .321/.390/.460, but I would have chosen McCutcheon.

Hmm...

Does anyone else think that if his performance in the world series was stellar he’d have one this title?

Yes, I’m sure he’d have “one” then. Instead he two’d. That said, a stronger finish to the regular season and he would have locked up the World Series MVP.

if Happ wouldn’t have goten hurt towards the end of the season this award would have been his fa sho

I remember saying this last year, but it’s amazing how much more important these awards seem when you’re not in the playoffs every year.
