I'm going to wait until there's another source on this before I get too worked up but... really?

EDIT: BOGUS. Welcome to journamalism, Tom Haines!

I think it’s bogus. No source within the report, and the idea that what was probably a Milton Bradley trade went to completion with little word to any of the usual sources makes this unlikely.

I doubt this highly, but stranger things have happened. It’s a wait and see situation, it is the time of year when the MLB rumor mill starts to turn a bit faster.

No one else has picked it up yet.

And Tim Brown from Yahoo Sports has this quote from a Rays official…

“News to us.”

Quite frankly, I don’t see how the Mets dump Castillo (which has been the rumor in these proposed Burrell/Bradley swaps) and wind up with a lesser commitment like Burrell.

I've heard there's internal discussion among the Mets about picking up Burrell

Then again, there’s also talk they might just do Castillo-Bradley and freeze Tampa out of the deal. It’s Silly Season – there’s lots of talk.

i WISH this was true

pat burrel in left field at citi would be a JOKE and he would hit about 12 HRS in that gigantic park!!

Remember — “Pat Burrell kills the Mets.” This time, it would be from the inside. We could program him (remember, there is a debate about whether he is man or machine) to fail at the most opportune of times. How brilliant!
