question about the verducci effect..
is it taken into account how while Cole threw so many innings, he threw them over a longer period of time? Or does that not matter?
My understanding
Is that it doesn’t matter. It’s a year-to-year thing. My understanding is that it’s also not a rigorously tested statistical correlation. But, it does touch upon a basic intuition – young pitchers who increase their workload too much from year to year are at risk of injury.

he was throwing 91-92 yesterday apparently. that doesn’t sound bad to me.

Not panicking yet
Santana was having the same pain, too. If he ends up missing the rest of ST, then I’l worry. The Phils just being overly cautious about their star pitcher; can’t say I blame them.
FWIW
The Phillies Zone blog noted that he’s throwing long-toss and taking fielding practice this morning. So they’re either being stunningly irresponsible, or the trip to Philly is really just due diligence. Here’s hopin’.
When’s the last time he was right about anything?
An Eskin guarantee has some validity to me, it usually means the exact opposite will happen
"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."
Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.
