April 9, 2009 - Phillies Breakfast Links
Jamie Moyer loves his Ring. I still think I'm happiest for him off that entire roster.
Pat Burrell was there, too, in an emotional scene.
Hell, they all wept like grandmothers.
It's not colorful enough!
The Reading Phillies look ahead to 2009.
Nails defaults on his mortgage.
The Phillies will meet President Obama at the White House next Tuesday. They will announce their plan to sell their World Series rings to bail out AIG. Noted Obama backer Jimmy Rollins isn't surprised at the criticism the President has gotten.
I can feeeeeel your anger! Strike me down with all your hatred!!

Now see – that’s just uncalled for
"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."
Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

I agree, totally classless. Again, it’s that contingent of Philadelphia fans who feel like they “have a reputation to live up to” by being drunken jackasses.
Keith Law agrees with me – good or bad?

meanwhile..
Matt Stairs got roaring applause when he walked out for his ring…. haha
"I never really felt like they wanted to tackle me" - Tony Hunt
I’d add a “don’t” in there, as it’s pretty depressing—though humorous in spots, as with the one guy who shreds Obama for many of the same faults Bush had (“ZERO EXPERIENCE IN FOREIGN POLICY zOMG!!!1”)
I was listening to the ring ceremony on the radio yesterday in the car. Definite chills when Pat was announced. And as much as we ripped on him last year, props to Maddon for being cool about Pat getting his ring.
Speaking of keith law – he thinks the phils have enough for peavy
Do you?
Rich (RTP): Is there enough in the Phillies’ system to make a run at landing Peavy?
Keith Law: Absolutely. Donald, Marson, Brown, and maybe a lower-level arm – I have to imagine that would do it. The Padres would get an everyday ss, a near-term everyday catcher (whom I imagine they love because of his plate discipline), a high-ceiling guy in Brown, plus another guy. And the Phillies would still have Carrasco, Taylor, d’Arnaud, etc., so it’s not as if they’d be gutting the system. The question is more whether Peavy is worth that package of prospects than whether the Phils could land him.
