Padres, White Sox agree to trade for Jake Peavy - UPDATE: Peavy vetoes deal
UPDATE: And Jake Peavy has vetoed the trade.
Seriously, Jake, what the hell? You're a picky slut.
Unknown what the terms are. And, with a full no-trade clause, Jake Peavy can still nix the deal. Although I doubt the Padres would've gone too far in the negotiations unless they had good reason to believe Peavy would accept the trade.
Hey, he's out of the National League. I guess we'll see how profound the PETCO Park effect really is.
Check back for updates...

Why can’t this title read Padres, Phillies agree to trade for Jake Peavy.
haha . . . I just wish we could actually have some good starting pitchers.

Hmmm…17-22 and 5.5 games back with 3 teams to jump over and no realistic shot at the WC. Their pitching hasn’t been the problem with a 4.58 ERA while thier offense is posting a .704 OPS. I guess you can’t lose if you try to make sure the other team never scores.

The White Sox don’t play in the canyon which is Petco. Let’s see how Peavy does before we get all misty-eyed that he isn’t pitching for the Phils. Personally, I’ve wanted lots of other pitchers and never Jake. I just don’t think he’d do well here in Philly.
I’m holding out hope for Cliff Lee in a Cleveland fire sale…

I’d take half a Peavy before a full Cliff Lee.

Peavy would/will never come here. He’s trashed CBP on numerous occasions.
I think we’re all (and this includes myself) in a position to not kick anyone out of bed at this point, considering how bad our pitching has been. Cliff Lee would be an upgrade over just about anyone we have. His WHIP is a little high, but his ERA is under 3.
We’ll probably end up with some Joe Blanton type again. But there may be some really big names on the trade market this year: Halladay, Guthrie, Bedard, Harang. I’d love to have Halladay should the Blue Jays fade. Never gonna happen, though.

Yeah, Jake peavy is awful away from petco – look at those away numbers – the phils pitchers are all better than that
Now, it’s well known i’m an idiot, but those away numbers don’t look like the crap we get from 4/5 of the phils starting rotation

Deal's dead
According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist Joe Cowley.
Basically, Peavy didn’t want to leave sunny CA to pitch at homer-friendly U.S. Cellular Field. Pansy.

If you don’t want players vetoing trades, don’t give them no trade clauses and get that asinine 10/5 rule out of the CBA.
A grown up who wants some say in where he works – such a pansy
