Baseball Prospectus Idol - MattS - Week One Voting LIVE
As I posted last week, The Good Phight's Matt Swartz ("MattS") is a finalist in the first annual Baseball Prospectus "BP Idol" competition.
Now, voting for Week One submissions is LIVE. Matt's submission, "Paper Covers Rock: Why Pitchers Don't Control Batting Average on Balls in Play,' can be read and voted on here.
And will be live through 11 PM Eastern on Tuesday, May 26. So go vote for Matt now!
Only current Baseball Prospectus subscribers can vote. If you're not already a subscriber, sign up for a FREE Basic membership here. Whoops, apparently you have to be a Premium Subscriber. Oh well, now's the time to join I guess!
Great article Matt, and good luck!

Congrats and good luck, though!
I loathe Chipper Jones as a player...
But I respect the hell out his approach to hitting. It’s a combination of ability and knowledge that we’ve hardly seen since Ted Williams.
Mike Schmidt, for instance, was hung up on his tendency to strike out, even though he was probably the best player of the post-Mays, pre-Bonds Era.

What’s particularly frustrating is that as I do more and more BABIP research, there are two players who I can’t stand who keep coming up as among the best BABIP hitters, and the ones who have the best approach to hitting. Chipper Jones and Derek Jeter. I have this begrudging respect for them that emerges every time I do more research and see their names come up. Smart hitters, evildoers.
