Old Man and the Sea: Marlins at Phillies Game Thread, May 25, 2009
Florida Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies, May 25, 2009 7:05 PM EDT
The Phillies return home after a successful if not unequivocally perfect 8-2 road trip for a three game series against the Florida Marlins.
Jamie Moyer will, again, be going for his 250th career victory against one of the few teams he's had any success against lately. He'll be opposed by Chris Volstad.
Discuss the game below.

And Ronny Paulino did his bit, too
It might be the highlight of their season, as they’re both hitting below .250, each now with one HR. After that 11-1 start the Marlins have been just about the worst team in baseball, haven’t they?

Demoralizing loss indeed. 8-2 road trip followed by an egg at home, and a truly dickless ninth inning. Stealing while down by two. Really?
Ugh. Get ‘em tomorrow. They better, with the Mets leading the Gnats, it’ll be a .5 game lead.

I have more problems with the outs on the basepaths and bad situational hitting than I do with Moyer. Postgame showing that Moyer had Helms on 2-2 before the 3-run HR, which was the difference in the ballgame.

If you look up earlier there are some posts that indicate that moyer had some gifts earlier, and even with the missed strike – it was a full count and he served up helms quite a homerunable pitch
"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."
Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.
