Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets, May 6, 2009 7:10 PM EDT
After a satisfying two-game mini-sweep of the Cardinals on their home turf, the Phillies travel back east, into the belly of the beast versus the New York Mets at brand-new Citi Field.
Unfortunately, the outlook is not particularly rosy. The Phillies send Chan Ho "I was great during the Clinton Administration" Park against lefty wizard Johan Santana. Have low expectations tonight, folks, it probably won't be pretty.
Look at it this way -- the Phillies have guaranteed themselves at least a split on the week. Winning one of the two games in the series would mean a 3-1 week against a couple tough teams, which isn't bad.
Anyone else watching on SNY? I want to hear what Keith and Gary whine about since the dimensions of CBP won't be an issue.

Just turned it on in time to see Chase ground to second.
Seems like Santana has been sharp, but maybe a lot of pitches—I noticed 35 thru 2, and he was cruising earlier…
Meanwhile, CRaP is doing well. This does not bode well for my hope that this will be his last start.

Between my fear that a good Park performance will extend his tenure in the rotation and my sense that we’re either winning tonight or tomorrow, when I’ll be there, I’m unusually ambivalent about this game…
Santana racks up his 6th K. He’s really quite good.
Raul strikes out on a pitch that was so good the catcher missed it too. He makes it to first, giving Santana a chance to tie that four-strikeouts-in-an-inning thing.
Santana is so good that he'll probably fake out the catcher on strike 3 again, so he can K _5_ in an inning

Dykstra is the only player i could think of who played for both teams – that’s the reason i said him – i had no idea if he hit 30 in a season – but he was a ‘93 juicer’ – so i figured :)

Everybody loathes that drama queen at this point.
Though I have to admit that as he consistently sucks the dong late in his career, I’m almost enjoying his struggles more than I’m annoyed by his Hamlet act.
And another reason people watch – the only thing we love more in this society than elevating our heroes – is reveling in their declines…reality tv all the same crap – we love to watch people embarass themselves.

Look at it this way – before the game – we all assumed a ,loss AND a piss poor outing by park – at least we got a good outing from Park which could mean something (might not, but it could)
