Redding, Phillies: Phillies at Mets Game Thread, June 11, 2009.
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets, Jun 11, 2009 7:10 PM EDT
If you're reading this, it means tonight's game was not rained out, and the Phillies and Mets will actually complete (or at least attempt to) a three-game series this season. Amazing, unlike the Mets.
Jamie Moyer, who has shown signs of not needing a trip to the glue factory in his past few starts, will toe the slab for the Phillies against the Tim Redding, who somehow finds a way to flummox the Phillies on a regular basis.
Discuss the game below. Stay dry.

My fear as always is that Walter Johnson Sandy Koufax Bob Gibson Cy Young Tim Redding will pitch well. The Phils seem to have gotten through him better recently, but old habits could die hard.

Howard swings at way too many 3-2 pitches.
For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?
Really don’t get why they suck so bad against him. Redding’s ERA is going to lower by about 1 1/2 runs tonight.

Nah, give the Phils some credit, they would have lost 4-1 instead of being swept.

Can the Phillies sign Tim Redding and put him in a giant jar with holes in the lid, and stash it somewhere in Allentown? They can promise to feed him and stuff.

As bad as Moyer has been, he still hasn’t been bad enough to warrant being yanked from Charlie Manuel’s rotation. That’s scary.
Moyer hasn't been awful over the last month or so

Marvel is doing a bunch of cool classic literature adaptations
We have the Illiad, Moby Dick, the 3 Musketeers, Man in the Iron Mask, and Last of the Mohicans.
The Odyssey is being serialized now and should be in graphic novel, or ‘book’ form in July. The rest of the Trojan War is being serialized now as well by Marvel.
The Illiad book is about 200 pages and it’s good. There are allusions to sex bits, but nothing explicit. Patroclus and Achilles are buddies, but not in a manner that would alarm parents of younger kids.
I think it would work for most kids 12+. Someday, I want him to read Moby Dick. Not when he’s 7, though. The graphic novels are useful in getting him interested in literature at this stage.

Redding is an utterly predictable pitcher, like how I pitch in MLB ’09 The Show. Same pattern every time.
I have said it at least 100 times over the past few months, I think the Phillies don’t ever watch film.

Lineups aren't supposed to matter for scoring, but for
situational relief and matchup difficulty, it seems that the lineups should matter. How about:
1. Utley
2. Victorino
3. Ibanez
4. Werth
5. Howard
6. Rollins
7. Ruiz
8. Feliz
9. Pitcher

Mind you, the Mets are pretty much Moyer’s kryptonite, so I’m not reading too much into it, but he didn’t really pitch well.
