Redding, Phillies: Phillies at Mets Game Thread, June 11, 2009.

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets, Jun 11, 2009 7:10 PM EDT

If you're reading this, it means tonight's game was not rained out, and the Phillies and Mets will actually complete (or at least attempt to) a three-game series this season.  Amazing, unlike the Mets.

Jamie Moyer, who has shown signs of not needing a trip to the glue factory in his past few starts, will toe the slab for the Phillies against the Tim Redding, who somehow finds a way to flummox the Phillies on a regular basis.

Discuss the game below.  Stay dry.

Marvel is doing a bunch of cool classic literature adaptations

We have the Illiad, Moby Dick, the 3 Musketeers, Man in the Iron Mask, and Last of the Mohicans.

The Odyssey is being serialized now and should be in graphic novel, or ‘book’ form in July. The rest of the Trojan War is being serialized now as well by Marvel.

The Illiad book is about 200 pages and it’s good. There are allusions to sex bits, but nothing explicit. Patroclus and Achilles are buddies, but not in a manner that would alarm parents of younger kids.

I think it would work for most kids 12+. Someday, I want him to read Moby Dick. Not when he’s 7, though. The graphic novels are useful in getting him interested in literature at this stage.

I meant that in the sense of an oral ejaculation, such as:

“Oh my!” or “Gee willikers” I can understand your misinterpretation of that, however. :)

+1 for such a witty response

But we allll know where your mind was when you typed that up. It’s okay, you can admit the truth amongst friends.

I was reading the blog about how Raul has a hot streak each season and then cools off. I was starting to think it was over, maybe not! RAULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I hate Madson in here. The Mets are going to be patient which means more pitches than normal.

Come on. You can't let Omir Santos beat you.

By definition only

He was getting hit hard.

Mind you, the Mets are pretty much Moyer’s kryptonite, so I’m not reading too much into it, but he didn’t really pitch well.

WHIP: 1.25

No walks. ERA of 4.5.

Not pretty, but he got the job done. Style points don’t count.
