Heck of a start. Jeez.

First walk by Moyer in four starts.

Maybe this will be rained out.

by taco pal on Jun 17, 2009 7:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Let’s play a guessing game. How many outs will Moyer get tonight?

I had this one marked down as a loss anyways, so I’m not sweating it.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We are going to need to score A LOT of runs to have a chance at winning tonight.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

just a hunch.

Anyone in the Philadelphia area, is this game on ESPN or is it blacked out?

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

On CSN here , ESPN is running filler stuff. ( Buck County)

What about the brief case? You forgot the brief case! I'm going home! So clear a path, you motherf*ckers! Clear a path! I'M GOING HOME! -Bill Foster

Howard walks. I wish he would do that more often.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Strikes out the side. This guy is supposed to suck against lefties.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This could get ugly.

by Ritty77 on Jun 17, 2009 7:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Take Moyer out. Of the rotation.

And put in who?

Eric Bedard, Roy Oswalt.

Oswalt preferably.

Cool – when did we get those guys?

Carrasco…really, how much worse could he be?

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He might have a future – yo ureally want to risk scarring him if he ain’t ready just yet?

If he can come in and be more effective than Moyer — which I am pretty sure he can — then isn’t it worth making the move?

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I suppose – but i don’t know how much more effective he can be than Moyer – people smarter than me can project that :)

Is there a ‘retirement/you suck’ buy out in moyers contract?

Ah, the “Old Yeller” clause.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He’s not sam dalembert for gods sake, he’s still useful, i’m not suggesting kill him, just thank him and give him a nice job as a pitching coach :)

He’s not useful. That’s the point. As a pitching coach maybe, but we already have one of those.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 7:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well he can learn :) He can contribute to the success of the phillies even if he’s not on the 25 man roster whereas that other guy :)

I would contend that he might be even less useful to our team than Dalembert is to the Sixers, even.

Moyers role as ‘role model’ to young pitchers trumps anything that dude does – plus – you want speights modelling himself after the haitian sensatin?

No. But I don’t want Bastardo or Happ modeling themselves after gramps if it means leaving meatballs up in the zone right in the middle of the plate either. ; )

Rollins. You really do kinda suck this year. Sorry pal.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 8:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This game went from “a bad start” to “embarrassing” pretty quickly. Jeez, that inning was abominable.

by FuquaManuel on Jun 17, 2009 8:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Just our luck. Ibanez’s double play cost us at least 1 run.

I love baseball, but I`m not so good with speculations and technical facts..

so does anyone have an educated opinion of this team`s poor-mediocre performance at home this year?

by jefu on Jun 17, 2009 9:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

ive done a lot of homefield advantage research and honestly probably just dumb luck. it’s statistical randomness. there are a few teams every year that overplay on the road and underplay at home, and vice versa, and there doesn’t seem to be any consistency to which team is which. so it’s probably just a situation where they had the balls fall in on the road more than home.

Thanks

In any case, I`ll be excited when the Phillies win series against most American league teams.

by jefu on Jun 17, 2009 9:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

it sure would be nice, but i liked their interleague performance last october! i think that permanently made me shrug my shoulders at interleague play. i’d like to see them maintain the three game lead going into this weekend and take it back when they play the o’s and the mets play the rays.

Richmond was nearly unhittable tonight. Hopefully the Phils can salvage the last game of the series tomorrow.
